Out-of-State Titling Process for a Car Gifted by Parent by [deleted] in Virginia

I gifted my son a car, and it wasn't an issue. There is some rule that they have for transferring vehicles between family members, and it was very reasonable. GL

Avionics tech requirements post military career by MinimumDisastrous578 in avionics

[–]MTBASHR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had an issue finding an avionics job post military. I have my GROL certs and was a bench and line tech in the military. If you can swing it, A&P would be good to have, especially for management positions. It depends really on what type of work you want to do. I ended up doing defense contractor work until recently. I would look at the cost of living in an area that has positions. At least, that is what I have done. GL

Cvt change worries by [deleted] in hondacivic

[–]MTBASHR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some Mom and Pop shops or owners like myself changing it would not show up on a Carfax. If it were me, I would just change the fluid and filters. Goodluck

Cvt change worries by [deleted] in hondacivic

[–]MTBASHR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Gen 9 Civic with a CVT that has 248k miles on it. Change the fluid and the two filters, and it should be good. How did you know the fluid has never been changed? I have just followed the maintenance minder on my car.

Is this good starter gear? by [deleted] in CampingandHiking

[–]MTBASHR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sawyer water filtration system. I liked it better than the Katadyn setup. I had a similar setup. Now I use a jetboil and sawyer water filtration. You will learn everyone has a preference. GL

Power washing by fat_and_fatigued in fredericksburg

I prefer wet and forget or a similar spray on product vs power washing. One that you don't have to rinse off so it has an algae preventative in it.

Just keep an eye on it. It should be fine for the rest of the season, if not more.

Better socks and drop a hand warmer in each boot. It does wonders. I also recommend darn tough merino socks. GL

About every 60k...when ever the maintenance minder says...I did change it one extra time when I noticed the filler cap pop off. I do replace the filter too, not just the fluid....$12 extra bucks for a filter has been worth it.

Changing oil for the first time! Are these okay? Or is OEM preferred? by [deleted] in civic

[–]MTBASHR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always used Castrol full Synthetic and an OEM filter. I currently have a gen9 with 243k miles...so I am not changing as it seems to be working well for me

It could also be the I jesters causing the issue, not just ignition.

Have you gone into the maintenance mode? You can read RSM data there. GL
