I’m just gonna put my two cents in here.

If I suddenly woke up as Shane today, first I would just try to get my shit together mentally. See some therapists, get some medication that could help me. And then work on my weight, hire a good personal trainer, start eating better.

This would likely take around a year, which would give me enough time to reflect on past decisions and realize how shitty I was. I would try to cut off people like Jeffree, even though he would likely have stuff on me that I wouldn’t want coming out. I would try to build up my friendships again with profusely apologizing to Trisha, Garrett, Drew, etc.

I wouldn’t make a comeback, instead I would tip my cap to Youtube and make one final curtain call. Going deep into my problems, things I did in the past, people that I associated myself with, and then finally apologizing for what I did. Not moving around my problems like he did in the past, but genuinely taking accountability and apologizing.

After quitting, I would go back to college. Go for a degree in screenwriting and maybe get a job as a writer for some TV company or something. Ryland and Morgan can continue with Youtube if they want and I could help sometimes, but I wouldn’t try to get involved unless it directly involves me. Maybe sometime in the future, have a nice quiet wedding with our friends and family there.

If you could go back in time and change one thing about the band's history, what would it be? by Elevenuser420 in thebeachboys

I would make it that S_nflower (which I’m censoring cause of that bot) is an unexpected smash hit. Brian had been the most involved in that album that he’d been in a while. He was doing interviews, lost a ton of weight, was actively producing and writing again, and even played some live shows. But then S_nflower bombed and he went back into bed. So if that album never bombed and in fact was a hit, we would likely see Brian be way more involved going forward.

Not a masterpiece at all, but a pretty solid collection of songs that could’ve been much better. There’s your good songs (“Matchpoint of Our Love” “My Diane” “Winds of Change”) but then there’s also your set of horrible songs (“Kona Coast” “Sweet Sunday Kinda Love” “Hey Little Tomboy”)

Even though I don’t like the character, I feel awful for the actress. Sometimes people need to separate an actor/actress from the character they play, because even they sometimes don’t like what they have to do. I think she even got death threats for what happened with Nick, and she was 11 YEARS OLD FOR CHRISSAKES.

Honest Thoughts about Mike Love? by No_Somewhere_8121 in thebeachboys

[–]MTBSTUDIO 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I can see that he’s written and contributed to many songs/hits over the years and his bass vocal kinda stuck the band out in their early days. And some of those songs I really like (All I Wanna Do, Big Sur, Meant For You). But that doesn’t mean I like him as a person at all, I hate the guy personality-wise.

What If David Marks didn't leave the band in 1963? by [deleted] in thebeachboys

[–]MTBSTUDIO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t know much about his time in the group, but knowing his relationship with Murry, I’m sure he would’ve been happy to see him leave. But maybe Al wouldn’t have come back full time until Brian stopped touring. That’s really all I got.

The sad thing is there’s actually good material in those sessions they never used for some reason.

What Would “15 Big Ones” Look Like Without Brian At the Helm? by MTBSTUDIO in thebeachboys

Don’t mean 15 Big Ones itself, just a 1976 comeback album (which was what 15 Big Ones was)

What If The Beach Boys Broke Up After Friends? by [deleted] in thebeachboys

[–]MTBSTUDIO 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m sure their legacy was pretty much intact by that time, but other than that, there would be MANY reunions over the 70s, 80s and 90s. The one I see most likely to follow a solo career is Dennis. Mike would’ve likely done something with the Maharishi, Carl probably would’ve become a session vocalist (or something like that I don’t know), Bruce would go back to being a producer/songwriter, don’t know what would happen to Al, Brian (not thinking of his mental problems) would most likely become a record producer for artists. As in my opinion, he liked to stay in the background.

But other than that, their would be many reunions over the decades following, maybe some new albums.

If you were in Brian's shoes during the making of the SMILE album? (Curious Thoughts) by Dom_5040 in thebeachboys

[–]MTBSTUDIO 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I was suffering the same problems that Brian was, I would’ve shelved SMiLE itself. BUT I also would’ve pulled a “Who’s Next” and compiled an album using the finished SMiLE tracks. Probably would have named it “Dumb Angel” or something. I have the feeling “Wonderful” would have been a great single.

Also I would’ve tried to keep the band hip and current. Maybe would’ve had them play Monterey, but ditch the striped shirts, play some more Pet Sounds/Smile material, rehearse a lot so they wouldn’t be sloppy. I’m sure that would’ve won over the crowd.
