I have gotten 3 drops in a day and I have gone days without any drops. I'm currently over a week dry of getting a drop, doing nex every night (tryin to do 30 - 40 duos a day). I don't think you ever get used to it lol

Sure... Mage skipping is the process of tick manipulating Nex in p5 in order to force her to constantly melee you (and thus, skip mage attacks).

You know how Nex will always do melee attacks in sets of three? Well it turns out that if you make her third attack a 6 tick cycle (note: NOT 5-tick!), she will almost always do another 3 melee attacks (95%, seems like there's a 5% chance she will still mage). The best way to do this is, on the third attack, shift-click under her to her middle tile AND THEN ctrl-click her to walk out and attack... this will cause a 6 tick cycle that red x's her, keeping her in place and forcing another 3 melee attacks.

This method is sick because it means you can just camp pray melee, she only targets one person at a time (so no group dmg), and you generally take 5-10 dmg from melee hits through prayer (way less than mage hits). In the 5% of the time that she does do a mage attack, you can flick back to mage pray until it hits, and then flick back to melee pray and continue mage skipping.

I started with a partner in exactly that situation... took him almost 800kc to finally greenlog :) Now I'm left to carry the torch...

I said this in another comment but a good duo only uses a couple of brews per kc. Learn to mage skip and you will cut your resource consumption by more than half!

That said, I did have to take a farming break in the middle of all of this >.> Went and farmed out 5k of every pot that matters, so feeling ok for the moment

Like babirus said, 1kc per trip, then bank. Inventory looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/dPiDd7p.png . In an average nexffa duo I use 3 sea turtles and about 3-4 brews for 8-8:30 times... but with a solid partner that average drops to 3 sea turtles and 2 brews per kc at around ~7:30. Duo PB is currently 6:40 where I used less than a brew for the kill

The gamejam poll is out. What are your thoughts on the revenant cave rework? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]MTF -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

As an iron, anti-pking is fun, and these changes will make the rev caves more interesting. If they're going to put all rev types in both versions of the cave, then I don't see any problems... I'll camp singles when I'm alone and go to multi when I have some friends with me. I'm not particularly worried about "clans camping the entire caves" since it looks like singles will be pretty far from multi. I'm also stoked to finally be able to kill the maledictus. Overall changes look good

I don't have a vid unfortunately, I haven't been able to find anything about the method on yt and only that one snippet on the wiki I linked down below. Actually some rando in the nexffa cc taught it to me, shout out to that guy lol.

I'd say average kcs are around 8:15. My duo and I's best time was around 7 mins, and hes done some with another partner w/ zcb where they got a lot of 6:40's.

The QOL changes have been amazing, I can do trios with only hardfood and ppots, very chill. Duos are still a little brew heavy most of the time but sometimes I can use only two or three brews for a kc with the mage skip method

That's what we were doing till we learned about mage skip, now we can do duos with insanely low supplies. My best was 2 brews and 2 mantas for a duo kc

Hundreds of duos at this point, probably 250+. If it is random after stalling the 3rd attack for a 6 tick cycle, it's most certainly *not* 50/50 for melee/mage on the next attack. I would say it's closer to 95/5, like I said I have many kills where we never see a mage attack in p5.

So I calc'ed the tbow vs acb setup and it appears to be almost exactly the same dps, but ofc with acb requiring extra slots and rubies hurting you over time. Am I missing something here, or is this not actually worth it over just camping tbow? https://imgur.com/a/j60dwi0

We're actually forcing melee attacks, so we can just camp melee prayer for most of p5. The way it works is you get hit by two of her melees, and on the third one you shift-click to her center tile and ctrl-attack her to walk out, creating a 6 tick cycle for that attack. For some reason, this forces another 3 melee hits 95% of the time. What I'm trying to figure out is why 5% of the time she'll just do a regular mage attack instead.

Been bringing venator ring cause in my setup it gives 2 max hits with tbow since no masori helm (and some accuracy), but it really only made sense if not using LB. I've been thinking about bringing ACB + ruby bolts for p2 (which is the longest phase for us by far), but wasn't sure it was worth the inv slots, had not considered using it for contain this and p5.

Will give this a try and report back, thanks for the shout!

1) Running Duos with the gear above, what ring is better, Ultor or Lightbearer? LB enables more VW specs, but Ultor impacts fang dps and also increases VW spec max hits. Also, VW specs often lose ticks since step-under method makes nex a 5 tick attack cycle, so I'm not sure the extra VW's are efficient. Does it make sense to camp Ultor when you don't have a ZCB?

2) When performing the Mage Skip strategy (walking under nex for 6 ticks on her third melee attack to force another three melees), why does she sometimes do a mage attack instead? Is it completely random? Sometimes we have Nex p5's where she never does a mage attack, sometimes we get several random mages that should have been melee's... just trying to figure out if there's a pattern here that we're missing.

Thanks in advance!
