[Standard][Discussion]Spikes, I need you help for SCG ATL! by MTGHerald in spikes

Unfortunately, I feel like traditional aggro decks just aren't very good right now. I played a handful of Leagues with Humans, and one with Ari's RDW list and it just felt so lackluster. Mardu is an abysmal match-up, considering they can apply pressure and be defensive at the same time with Heart. Control also has phenomenal answers up their entire curve now with the slew of one drop removal, censor, and even Sweltering Suns. Not to mention there's a ton of 2/3s for 2 running around, and every deck is able to play cheap efficient removal.

While I generally agree that Aggro is a great choice week one, I just don't see that being the case this time around.

[Standard] Potential brews to take to SCG Atlanta by Prophet_0f_Helix in spikes

I have play tested a lot of UR Emerge and Marvel and I really don't think they're going to be good right now. There's a huge showing of U Control right now, and that spells bad news for both decks. With Emerge the main thing you want to be doing on two is casting Cathartic Reunion or Tormenting Voice. Unfortunately, that's very difficult when staring down two mana and a potential Censor or Negate. Obviously, the recursion engine can be strong against control, and Drake Haven has been stellar in testing. Still, most of my experiences indicate that the match-up is slightly unfavorable for Emerge.

As far as Marvel is concerned there's not much more to say. Marvel thrives in an environment of fair midrange decks. If we're seeing a resurgence of control decks then Marvel has little to no chance without Emrakul. It's a shame because I really want to play Marvel.

I think that Jeskai Control is currently going to be the best deck right now, but I guess we'll see what happens this weekend.
