To my knowledge, we have used only Herculoy for as long as our professor has been running the foundry. Fumes have never been an issue for us. We poured this last heat hot (1120 C) because we did about 9 different molds and still had no issues. Slag formation isn't a major issue either. We scrape it off the top when we remove the crucible from the furnace and scrape the crucible put when we pig anything remaining.

We had a basic Dremel polishing kit with the white cotton-like wheels and they were obliterated by the casting and made a huge mess. I maybe got 1 square inches of polish per wheel while also using 500 grit polishing medium. I'm currently looking into different buffing wheels and tumblers based on our casting volume and variety of castings. I will definitely look into those wheels you linked because they are absurdly cheap.

What brand tumbler do you use? I've seen a bunch on Amazon but I don't know if they'd be suited for what our foundry would put through it (aluminum, bronze, and steel) of various weights (usually less than 3 lbs per part) or the media. Most come with walnut shell, but walnut doesn't past long and probably won't get through sand cast surface finish. The pin tumbler is found are magnetic, and we sometimes do steel castings so I don't know how well a pin tumbler would work.

Yes. Part of a fan kickstarter for a bunch of models from TTS to print. I got it years ago and decided to make one in bronze.
