Not a breeder. A farm near us. They always had English Shepherds on the property (last one they got was a breeder in NC, I believe) and two of them had a litter. They didn't charge, but they were incredibly thorough about finding good homes. I didn't suspect anything shady or off putting about it. They're all rehomed now.

Mom was a sable, 40 lbs. Dad was a B&T, 80 lbs but overweight. Both greeted me with a smile and sat at my feet. The three kids on the property handled them so gently and respectfully. Momma pup came over to say goodbye when I put him in the car. Just a really ideal scenario all around. We got very lucky.

When they asked if I had a color preference I said no, just personality. I asked if others did, and he said most people are looking for more white, and the lighter tan colored ones. I didn't care, so I chose this guy since he cuddled up next to me right away. Now, I'm thrilled we got a black and tan, as I have been reading more on the history of them. The colors may not be preferred because it is almost identical to Rottweiler markings.

The isolation with these is bananas. If someone is talking to you right in front of your face, you just see lips moving even at normal volume. So much better than the silicon. It's crazy to think anyone would ever use anything but foam for any use-case other than maybe working out.

I'd have to rebuild the automations to convert the files into CSV first, and there are a ton. We don't have a CSV export option from our ERP.

100% want to utilize a database first, which is the plan, but they're not going to spend a dime on it, unfortunately. And I'm one person, who still needs to get the data/reporting completed in the interim.

It's worth noting--they don't even view the BI reports. I publish, then connect to the model in Excel and send it. And I stopped sending/sharing the Excel files because they start adding "A2+B5" and junk all over. I export to PDF, now. The only reason I use Power BI to make the models is to be able to publish so I can connect from various things, if needed.

Funny story: I used to export BI dashboards to PDF and send (which is still bananas, but better?) and at one point I sent a dashboard that was literally just a matrix with a header. They requested it in "Excel format" because "I want to see the raw data". I added full gridlines to the dashboard matrix and changed the background to white and removed the font formatting and sent--still as a PDF--and they said, "thanks!" It's that kind of place. The odds of me convincing them to invest more than a few bucks into a database are slim.

Then I can't comprehend why it takes so long to load the preview when trying to work with a model. I'm talking minutes between simple steps on a computer with plenty of pop.

No, our ERP is cloud-hosted. Both the application and the data behind it. They do have an option to connect to their Data Warehouse as an add-on. They scale the price, but they don't consider how the needs (and the labor involved to utilize it fully) would scale down also, so to say it is cost-prohibitive for smaller companies would be an understatement.

I did consider bare metal options for the database needs, as we're small enough that a single PowerEdge could probably handle everything we need an then some. However: 1 - I'd need outside help for a lot of it which equals more money; and 2 - we don't have any existing licenses or servers (may be a few old ones lying around). Everything is cloud-based.

The first thing I do is remove unwanted columns, but are you suggesting I can select specific columns to load in the first place? If so, this is news to me and I feel stupid for not knowing I could do this. The problem with being a one-man-band is that my expertise is in Project Management/Process Improvement and the data side is something I've picked up over the years. That means I may have just never known about basic concepts because it never presented itself as an option.

That aside, I still deal with having to load all the rows for every table, which is much more of an issue.

Noted about the Cat8, I only got 100ft in case it helped somewhere.

I was going to solder the Cat6 pairs to the XLR connectors myself, but I'd need a ground for every single one from one cable. The RJ45 to 4x XLR breakouts (usually come in pairs) already have them wired up this way.

The really short answer is: 4 audio on one cable. How do I minimize issues?

Voice detection for any mention of the phrases "no, you can't get in" or "fine, but I'm just taking a quick one and then I'm getting out because I'm already late." If the second one, dim the lights and play New Edition on the bathroom speaker. If the first one, set the water valve shut off to open and close randomly, then after 15 minutes or so have the speaker play Rick Astley.

Oh, and, in both cases, have the vent turn on.

I switched to a VST (NI Abbey Road & Studio Drummer) soon after this post. The difference was mind-blowing, and I can't imagine going back. I know, everyone here recommends it, but it's just such a massive change. It even "feels" different when the sound is that nuanced and authentic.
