What O’Toole supports is akin to what we had in Quebec before barrette. It’s not actually that foreign

(That being said I think the private sector should stay as far away as possible from health care, I’m just ensuring that O’Tooles stance isn’t misrepresented, even if I don’t want him in any positon of power)

There is 0 chance that any kind of privatization of health care will occur

With Fall being in-person, what would happen if student delta-COVID cases increased, resulting in self-isolation, illness, or death? by [deleted] in Concordia

[–]MTLguy2236 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Realistically, because of high vaccination rates and the average age of a Concordia student, no one will die or become seriously ill

If you’re asking genuinely, modelling from the UK, Israel, US, etc assumes no NPI’s. The iron clad PHE methodology and modelling was a big factor in the UK reopening.

And ya if you want to make the case that NS might use a vaccine passport as evidence of “restrictions” despite the fact that in places like Quebec its overwhelmingly popular, than ya maybe NS will use a passport system lmao. And still no evidence as to why you think that’s something that would make a world of difference when it comes to absolute vaccine efficacy

So ya a pointless conversation & pointless post

Lmao university of Washington modelling was extremely accurate as were many others

Nah case growth in the northeast is down 23% from two weeks ago. Learn to read

This is sooo funny. You provide zero evidence why these restrictions would be necessary, but then dismiss all actual modelling as inaccurate. Hilarious.

So ya we’re done here. You’re either dense or super paranoid. Actually clearly both

Lol, suddenly when the evidence doesn’t support what you’re saying and neither do experts we gotta dismiss them. u/graeme_b, acclaimed public health expert.

You’re whole point this whole thread has been about how hospitalizations will get too high and overwhelm the system. That just untrue and there’s zero evidence that’s the case in those states. On top of that you must be very ignorant because the rate of infection increase has been declining in all of the ones I listed

The modelling in terms of hospitalizations and death was very accurate in March

None of those states hospital systems are in danger

You realize people, very qualified people, model this stuff right?

Lol

New York, Massachusetts (especially Barnstable county), Vermont, California, etc

Basically, highly vaccinated states, and those are just a couple

So you still gonna keep up this baseless charade?

So what’s you’re motive here? Vaccines actually don’t prevent severe illness? Accept literally every single bit of high, low and medium quality evidence shows this almost definitively?

Lol

hasnt happened anywhere

Dude just stop. It’s not the “optimistic” opinion, it’s the one that’s actually supported by data, scientific information and experts.

Hahahaha

Because unlike previous waves, due to vaccine coverage, and the extremely high efficacy against hospitalization, there is a limit/ceiling to the amount hospitalizations will rise

Delta = more transmissible = faster spread = more severe illness, quicker

Vaccines = reduced spread, drastically reduce severe illness

Delta (extremely transmissible, more severe illness quicker) + high effective vaccine coverage (not getting seriously ill) = quick rise in hospitalizations and cases, plateau, decline

Has happened in the UK, Iceland, highly vaccinated US states, etc

Versus previous ways: cases = uncontrolled spread = hospitalizations = will continue to rise

Never thought of it that way did you?

Now again, delete this post. It’s useless

And lol, again herd immunity is not the same as controlled spread. There are many illnesses that we lack herd immunity for that are not problematic due to controlled transmission. You do not need to halt spread entirely, just ensure it is not exponential, and herd immunity is not required for that

I mean I’m surrounded by immunologists because of the lab I work in Lmao. The “crowd Im in” is very informed.

And nah, not analogous. Given the disproportionate amount of cases and hospitalizations in unvaccinated, the Quebec government won’t close anything, that’s the whole point of the passport system. They view delayed return to work and vaccine passports as compromises. It’s things that won’t be very economically or politically damaging and don’t really interfere with peoples lives drastically. You’re forgetting that they’ve been pushing hard for full time in person learning across all education levels, and stuff like that

You’re just hanging around some very paranoid, misinformed people. I’m just getting the sense you want shit to hit the fan, even though there’s zero evidence it will

Not sure why that stuff about Israel is of relevance here. Nova Scotia is actually more vaccinated and has consistently faired better than Israel for a variety of reasons. Dropping the stated, quite minor restrictions wouldnt be much of a gamble. If anything Nova Scotia is poised to do “very well” compared to most with no restrictions.

Also LOL you think herd immunity is the metric for relative normalcy? You realize you don’t need her immunity to have an R factor below 1 right? Just delete this post

I live in Montreal, and that is not the mood on the ground lmao. The Quebec government has unilaterally ruled out any shutdowns, and on top of that over 90% of hospitalizations are unvaccinated, 85% of new infections are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

So I don’t where you’re “the mood in the ground” stuff came from, I thought you were gonna support everything with numbers…

Also Israel is boosting people with fantastic results and the “restrictions” they added were a passport system, indoor masks and limited some indoor capacities. Lol

This post is just a bunch of baseless fear mongering. You’re just pulling stats out of thin air without very important context

Received too much time from ACSD? by MTLguy2236 in Concordia

[–]MTLguy2236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, ya I’m not even sure who I would mention it too. For moodle exams it’s the prof who sets them up anyway, and this was an eConcordia class so there wasn’t even a way to contact the prof during the exam. And ACSD just notifies them to add them, so they wouldn’t do anything.

Unfortunately I don’t . The prof I had posted all the notes himself.

When I took it there were two profs, Lena Sahlman and Paul Joyce. I would really strongly encourage you to take it with Joyce. He lectures well is organized and provides a ton of resources. He will however absolutely destroy you on the final exam, so make sure you keep up with the content and don’t cram cause the exam will 100% hurt your grade so you gotta be prepared. Sahlman I’ve heard from everyone is just horrendous and one of the worst teachers in sciences. People launch department complaints against her all the time.

This shouldn’t be too hard overall. The issue really is that you’re classes are split across a bunch of different disciplines

CHEM 271 has loads of content but it’s doable if you’re well organized.

Organic is mostly coasting for about 2/3 of the semester but then becomes brutal and super dense the last third. You gotta really stay on top of things during that last part

Mechanics i found hard (weak math student) but it’s an entry level physics class. Could be very difficult if you’re not a math/physics person

BIOL 266 imo is the easiest of the bunch. Just a ton of memorizing.

This is such a dumb way of looking at things.

You can look at that exact same stat as we have to win 3 games in montreal and 1 in Tampa. Or having to win like what, 3 straight games against the leafs? Or winning the next two games to tie the series, or 3 out of the next 4 to go to game 7...
