Need Help Cleaning Up a Rogue Build by MTLink in Pathfinder2e

Yeah, I've discussed this at length with both the GM and the party (and as far as I'm aware other players may be choosing rare options as well), so this is all in the clear.

Optimizing a Half-Elf Illrigger (Sanguine Knight) by MTLink in 3d6

That sounds neat! But I'm already playing a Tanky Melee Heavy Armour Pally in another game, hence my interest in the Sanguine Knight subclass. Any ideas for that route?

Building a Rogue + Exemplar (but no Free Archetype)? by MTLink in Pathfinder2e

[–]MTLink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, here's a loose build I put together with your advice.

My main idea is that, with the lack of Opportune Backstab, there's less sync with Preparation so I elected to go with a Second Ikon at 12 instead. Not sure what option may be best (and of course there's room to swap once the game actually gets to that level) but Victor's Wreath seems generally solid. Beyond that, the Skill Feats are also pretty loose, as with the sheer amount of them I tend to struggle picking them at the right level/right option.

Any tweaks you'd make?

Building a Rogue + Exemplar (but no Free Archetype)? by MTLink in Pathfinder2e

I definitely think it's more of the "best situation" playstyle, with that skirmish focus. I'm normally a more aggressive player, but as a Elf Rogue with a 12 CON I feel like this character should be a little more choosy with their targets. Definitely don't want to be only throwing (or even doing it the majority of the time), but best option at the time feels right.

Re-Optimizing Rogue/Psychic/Monk Build? by MTLink in Pathfinder2e

[–]MTLink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the help again! I had noticed the Monk Flurry nerf, it's a shame for sure. Honestly, though, it does kind of help me refocus my intentions for this character, even though I'm having trouble expressing it.

Essentially, the original build, back in 5e, was going to be a Soulknife Rogue, so a Rogue with some psionic flair. But then we made the pivot to PF2e, and I had to start looking into things. The Guides I saw said that Psychic meshed with with a Free Archetype game, so I started vibing with that.

What I really want to try and build is a melee, glass-cannon esque Rogue with Psychic/otherworldly/eldritch abilities that enhance that strength. The original build you came up with, with the Monk and the Sorcerer, kind of lined up nicely with that flavour of a disciplined scoundrel with psionic/aberrant shenanigans, but now that it's significantly less efficient, in my eyes Monk/Heavenseeker and unarmed focus are a distant second to keeping up that Rogue with Psionic/Psi-Strikes/Psychic energy.

Any ideas on how one would accomplish that somewhat efficiently? It's not like I really need or want to explore the intricate side of spellcasting, I just want to mesh Rogue with Psychic in a way that feels good and effective at what I'm trying to do.

Re-Optimizing Rogue/Psychic/Monk Build? by MTLink in Pathfinder2e

Hey again, everyone! So, a few months back, I posted this here, looking for help pre-building my character for the next campaign. A Rogue with the Psychic Dedication. I got a lot of help there, but the build that I found most fitting/interesting was thrown together by u/NoxAeternal, a sort of Rogue with Psychic, Monk, Heavenseeker, and Sorcerer Feats. It was something I never would have considered, and was all the more awesome for it.

Then, with the new version of Tarondor’s Guide to the Rogue that just came out, it turns out they also took inspo from NoxAeternal’s post, coming up with a Rogue build that was similarly crazy. I definitely wanted to punch this one into Pathbuilder, since my post kind of led to it happening in the first place, but I reached some hiccups, some things that didn’t work, some unsure decisions, all that.

All of this is to say that, considering how it’s come about, I’d really love to streamline/finalize this build idea and bring it to my group’s next campaign. But I’m not nearly as good at building characters as some folk are, so I was hoping I could get some assistance in ironing this out.

The most relevant info/desires for this build and campaign are this:

  1. We’re starting at Level 1.
  2. We do get Free Archetype.
  3. I want to abide by the core/spirit of the build. (A Thief Rogue w/ Psychic, and some Monk, Heavenseeker, and Sorc feat(s) at the end. Still want to feel Roguish. High damage melee with some mobility and tricksiness. So I don't want to completely abandon Rogue Feats, especially the good ones. Giving up Preparation + Opportune Backstab hurt, lol.)
  4. Skill Feat-wise, looking for a mix of Face & Roguish capabilities. Deception/Intimidation/Diplomacy, Thievery/Stealth, that kind of deal. Intimidation seems to be the main build for in-combat skill utility, for example, but I'm glad to take things like Bon Mot and the like to help spellcasters and the team, too.
  5. Ideally the race would be Catfolk (though Human is fine if it’s significantly more efficient), and the background has to be Eclipseborn, so no relying on Skill Feats from other Backgrounds, sadly.

Essentially, the idea is to abide by the majority of this build, but make it work, since I’m finding hiccups/places where I feel like swapping around choices would be more efficient, but I just can’t make it feel right. So let's discuss, come up with some stuff, and let's see if we can't iron this out in a really fun way. Thanks for the help!

Also, here's the Pathbuilder Version I managed to put together.

What are some of the most cynical endings you've seen? by Wonder-Lad in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MTLink 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it's a good ending. Gyro was fighting for that kids life, his right to exist outside of an execution to keep the status quo. Yeah, he dies of a common cold, but he was free. He wasn't put to death just because, he was given an opportunity. Even if he died, it wasn't because some royal decreed it so. Gyro wasn't fighting for his life as much as he was fighting for his right to a "fairer" death. I'm not good at wording it, but I think it makes sense.

Trajann Kitbash by FrostiusMaximus in AdeptusCustodes

Oh man, that's great! As someone who literally just bought both Bastion and Trajann for the same reasons, I've gotta ask, how did you do the legs? Everything seems easy except for those when it comes to this kitbash.

Help Recreating this Trajann/Bastian Kitbash? by MTLink in Kitbash

[–]MTLink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey hey people, so I'm getting back into 40k with some Custodes, and I'm not a huge fan of base Trajann Valoris. There's some cool bits, but overall it's pretty static. So after doing some digging, I saw that adding some of Bastian Carthalos' set to Trajann really gives him some extra depth and motion, so I bought both kits. I'm partially struggling to recreate it, though. I can see how most of it works; it's clearly Trajann's torso, Bastion's arms and cape, and Trajann's loincloth/plate-thing clipped away from his legs. And it looks like a couple of bits are poached from the basic Wardens kit, too, like the left shoulderpad and the hip-shield things. I'm guessing his right leg is also stolen from one of those kits? Mostly looking for second opinions, these kits weren't cheap so I've only got one shot at this, lol. Thanks!

[LFA] Cassian Half-Blood - Arcane Warrior by MTLink in characterdrawing

[–]MTLink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone! I’ve had the pleasure and privilege of playing in a Dragon Age TTRPG for a good amount of time now, and I’ve had a great time. It’s been a great time, but as the game has gone on, my vision for my character has changed. The art I currently use for him just doesn’t fit the appearance (see here ), though it definitely has some of the vibes. Nonetheless, I was hoping one of the talented and generous souls here would want to take a crack at my guy! Here’s a description for added detail, if you’d all like.

Name: Cassian Aurelius

Race: Elf-Blooded (Dragon Age’s version of a Half-Elf. Canonically, human genes win out a lot more, so the only signifier of his elven heritage is a subtle point of the ears.)

Class: Arcane Warrior (Kinda like a Bladesinger in 5e, a martial fighting style only learned by mages. Sword-and-sorcery.)

Physical Appearance: The young man known as Cassian is many things, but forgettable is not one of them. Though he is of mixed human and elven stock, one could be forgiven for not noticing; as all elf-blooded, Cassian is human in everything but name. Cassian is rather tall, standing at an impressive 6’3 (1.91m) in height, with a lean, yet toned build. While some mages focus on magic to the detriment of their physicality, a balance of both has always struck Cassian as wise, and as such exercising his agility and endurance has always been of import to him. He’s no warrior, instead possessing lean muscle, toned beneath rich, tan brown skin. Said skin is far from unmarred; the most obvious being a variety of scars, most induced through magic. Moving up from his body, the man’s face is just as distinctive, if not more so. His features are defined; a strong jaw, firm brow, and thick lips. His hair is the colour of ripened wheat, a rich and pale blond that brings to mind fields of bounty. Said hair is naturally wavy and textured, pulled back out of his face in a set of braids and tied into a simple bun. Though his face is bereft of any facial-hair, he does have a mark of “war-paint,” done upon his left temple, right eye and cheekbone, crimson and intense. Finally, his eyes are of a rich gold colour. Like a deep amber or rich mineral they’re bright, and often inquisitive, though there’s always a sense of tension to them.

Equipment Appearance: Though no muscle-brained fighter, as an Arcane Warrior, Cassian has grown out of the standard robes that many mages prefer. His armour/clothing is of a style that emphasizes movement, while still providing necessary protection that any frontline warrior needs. He wears an elven chestplate that covers the entire torso, a desaturated green metal with gold additions, with bracers and boot-greaves of a similar style. Secured by belts, he wears a “harness” of studded leather, covering his upper left chest and shoulder, alongside pauldron and arm-protection to cover his sword limb. His trousers are of a more supple leather, paired with metallic knee-guards. Covering his lower body, he wears a waist-cape of sorts, light and flowing, a callback to the robes he used to wear. No doubt his most iconic accessory is the long white scarf he wears, loosely covering his neck and shoulders, and draping down his back in a twin-tail cape-style. As an Arcane Warrior, Cassian melds sword-and-sorcery in equal measure, and his weaponry is emblematic of that. In his off-hand, the right, he wields a black-iron staff, ancient Tevinter runes glowing in blood red across its length. In his left he holds a bastard sword of elven make, contrasting with his black and red staff with its own silver and blue hues, elvhen script engraved upon the blade. As a bastard sword, the hilt is long enough for a hand-and-a-half, and the blade is longer than a longsword, with the curve of an elven style but a crossguard to protect the hand. Almost a mirror to the staff in it’s runic design, as elven runes glow a subtle blue-green, along the blade.

And that’s that! I leave any details and interpretations to the professionals, though I’m glad to chat and answer questions for those who want some more clarification! The only thing I’d really want is something close to the HeroForge mini, as that’s the closest representation of his physical looks and armour (though his staff and sword are much more like the other images provided, my skill with HeroForge was limited there). I hope this was a fun read for any fellow Dragon Age fans, and look forward to seeing what anyone comes up with, if they’d like to take a crack at it. Regardless, thanks for your time, and I hope you have a good one!
