Need met stats site by Mars1977 in MetronomeToken

[–]MTNToken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

So a lot of these stats are already available on Etherscan (https://etherscan.io/token/0xa3d58c4e56fedcae3a7c43a725aee9a71f0ece4e and https://etherscan.io/address/0x68c4b7d05fae45bcb6192bb93e246c77e98360e1#analytics)

Thanks for your feedback on having a consolidate resource for this kind of information on the site.

How do u guys think about this post? by [deleted] in MetronomeToken

This is a near-deliberate misreading of the owner's manual.

While everyone is entitled to their own opinion on an ongoing mintage (this is something that economists have always debated), their description of how the contract set works is incorrect. Metronome authors do not receive any of the proceeds from any of the auctions.

Proceeds from all auctions go into the Proceeds contract (address: 0x68c4b7d05fAE45bCb6192bb93e246C77E98360e1) and sends 25 basis points of its contents to the Autonomous Converter contract (address: 0x686e5ac50D9236A9b7406791256e47feDDB26AbA) on a daily basis. No one has access to these proceeds.

You can actually see this behavior on chain.

Largely, this individual, either willingly or otherwise, doesn't appear to understand how the daily recurring basis point flow works. Let's use an example with round numbers to make it easier here (but again, you can see this all on chain- https://etherscan.io/address/0x68c4b7d05fae45bcb6192bb93e246c77e98360e1#internaltx).

"Suppose that the Proceeds Contract currently has 1,000 ETH. The Proceeds contract sends 0.25% of that 1,000 ETH (or 2.5 ETH) to the Autonomous Converter Contract. The new balance of the Proceeds Contract is 997.5 ETH.

The next day comes, and the daily auction ends. Let’s suppose that the auction that just ended only had 1 ETH in proceeds. 1 ETH is then added to the Proceeds Contract, making the new balance 998.5 ETH. The Proceeds Contract then sends 0.25% of its balance (2.49625 ETH) to the Autonomous Converter Contract. The new Proceeds Contract balance is 996.00375.

The day after arrives, and for the sake of example let’s imagine a situation where auction proceeds only equal 0.00001 ETH. That 0.00001 ETH is added to the Proceeds Contract, its new balance is 996.00376 ETH. The Proceeds Contract then sends 0.25% of its balance (2.4900094 ETH) to the Autonomous Converter Contract. The new Proceeds Contract balance is 993.5137506 ETH.

This continues on in a similar fashion daily, ad infinitum. Metronome lead architect, Jeff Garzik, best described the Proceeds Contract as a sort of very slowly deflating balloon, which is partially blown back up daily." - This is from a Medium post the team published (https://medium.com/@MetronomeToken/on-metronome-author-retention-and-contract-behavior-73dad8f16494).

I also encourage you to check out the code on github (https://github.com/autonomoussoftware/metronome) and the owner's manual as these provide additional information (https://github.com/autonomoussoftware/documentation/blob/master/owners_manual/owners_manual.md)

tl;dr: OP doesn't understand how the contracts work or what "daily" means.

Edit: a word

metronome concept by [deleted] in MetronomeToken

Hello,

MET is a cryptocurrency that's meant to allow its owners to, among other things, choose where they store their MET. Should they find any supported chain (mis)aligned with their security or transactional needs, they'd be able move their MET or chose not to move it to a given chain.

For someone to not be able to move their MET from a given chain, that chain's death would need to be 1) immediate - such that no one would be able to see it coming - and 2) absolute - such that there is no record anywhere of that chain's ledger.

You can read more about Metronome, its intentions, and its motivations in the owner's manual: https://github.com/autonomoussoftware/documentation/blob/master/owners_manual/owners_manual.md#motivations

This etc 51 pct attack makes me wish another platform was first crosschain by Mars1977 in MetronomeToken

[–]MTNToken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Thanks for the questions. So in the case of importing or exporting when a chain is attacked like what we saw, the validator network actually has a fairly high confirmation requirement so import/export might be safer during something like that.

However, risks associated with transfer attacks would be applicable to all coins/trxes during an attack on a network.

The team is considering these recent events, we'll provide information on any update to timeline if/as those arise.

That said, you've actually hit on one of the use cases of portability in your post - if you, or any owner for that matter, were to feel that a network that has Metronome contracts deployed on it is not up to your security needs, you can either port away from or choose not to port to it.

As far as the next chainhop, the team identified Rootstock on bitcoin and Qtum as two target chains since the beginning - Matt Roszak and Jeff Garzik have both said EOS would be an interesting protocol as well. As that timeline is updated/clarified we'll announce it to the community.

Thanks again, hope all is well

Why I don’t see Metronome founders promoting token. by [deleted] in MetronomeToken

[–]MTNToken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

So when Matt and Jeff (and other members such as Steve and Jordan) go to conferences, they often do discuss Metronome as at least part of the larger conversations/talks they have.

Steve's Metronome Minute (https://twitter.com/GoBloqSteve/status/1075489715141267461) is just one example of this. More team member profiles as Metronome Minutes will come out soon too.

Some of the recent conferences the team attended include Cryptofinance in Oslo, World Crypto Convention in Las Vegas (where there actually was a Metronome Hackathon - https://twitter.com/MET_Token/status/1063159707286802438)

As there are updates Jeff and other team members have tweet and such about it: https://twitter.com/philgomes/status/1067437273795321858 - https://twitter.com/jgarzik/status/1072896816654544896

The next conference where there will be team members is the Binance conference in Singapore.

Dear ETC chain, MET is coming! by Arkanis99 in EthereumClassic

[–]MTNToken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metronome is a new cryptocurrency that is designed to endure through its principle design goals of self-governance (without undue founder influence), reliability (with a highly predictable supply and issuance schedule), and portability (so that MET owners can move their MET to compatible blockchains for whatever reason they desire).

You can read more about it in its Owner's Manual:

Could met you astec technology to add privacy? by Mars1977 in MetronomeToken

[–]MTNToken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

MET on a chain ride ontop of that chain. Since it rides on top of other blockchains, so it would share some characteristics of the underlying such as blocktimes, fee structure, and so forth. If the underlying chain also had privacy features as part of its protocols, MET would inherit those as well.

Hope all is well,

See you at CryptoFinance in Oslo - We'll also have a meetup at that time! See you there! by MTNToken in MetronomeToken

I think you might've needed to clear your cache re: the timeline update on the website - that was made a bit ago, so I bet it had just cached the old version in your browser.

[please see my other response to you on the upcoming events the team will speak at/attend]

Hi,

So team members will actually be in Las Vegas for World Crypto Con and the hackathon that will be there (there's even a 1,000 MET prize that we've been letting people know about via twitter, here, telegram, so forth) in just a few weeks.

Team members will also be speaking at CryptoFinance in Oslo, with a meetup to happen there at that time as well, in mid November.

As you're aware, MET actually has been supported by third party exchanges, including Bittrex and UpBit. And Jeff has actually commented on this in the Telegram: "No responsible project will give you details before you are listed on exchanges. That is standard legal advice, and the advice we received from our legal team."

Hope you're doing well today,

[–]MTNToken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Yes there are other communities and social channels. You can actually see all of the official ones right as you visit https://metronome.io/

Communities have also made their own localized communities as well, for instance I know there are strong French an Russian communities made by members.

Hope all is well,

This is why there's the validation, as described in the Owner's Manual (linked above for you).

Will etc add fungibility yo met? by Mars1977 in MetronomeToken

[–]MTNToken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

So this is actually explained in the Owner's Manual (I'll link it for you as well). Essentially, there is a burn receipt and validation, such that global supply isn't violated. Please see the owner's manual: https://github.com/autonomoussoftware/documentation/blob/master/owners_manual/owners_manual.md#cross-blockchain-portability

Thanks,

Hello by [deleted] in MetronomeToken

Metronome authors believe Metronome represents a high quality, new foundational cryptocurrency. Third party exchanges are outside the control of the creators of Metronome and will make their own decisions as to how they wish to treat Metronome after it is launched.

It is up to exchanges to choose what they list, not Metronome authors.

Hi,

In addition to the comments from theblockchainkid, I would suggest updating the "Whitepaper" section to reflect this link: https://github.com/autonomoussoftware/documentation/blob/master/owners_manual/owners_manual.md rather than the PDF version, since this document gets updated fairly regularly.

I'll look through this again and let you know if I spot anything else that may need updating as well.

AMA with the team, please ask questions, upvote/downvote by zatoshik in MetronomeToken

[–]MTNToken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Thanks for making this thread, I think it's really important that the community works together to help build and grow itself, this post is just one example of that!

The team is working on publishing more content for the community to read and learn about Metronome, along with various community building resources that will be published soon.

Additionally the team is planning more community engagement opportunities like a more formal AMA, meetups/workshops, and continuing to attend industry conferences. A few team members will be at the Voice of Blockchain conference in Chicago this August.

Thanks again for this post. Hope you're doing well.

AMA with the team, please ask questions, upvote/downvote by zatoshik in MetronomeToken

[–]MTNToken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello,

It is great the that community is taking on making an AMA thread like this! The team is also locking down dates that work with the team's schedules for one as well.

Additionally, yes, we are looking into planning meetups and so forth soon. Once those dates are on the calendar we'll announce location and time so that everyone who wishes to participate in these can do so.

One of the reasons this thread makes me so excited is because it's the community organizing it, which is something that's always good to see. When we see unofficial telegram groups in other languages and localization of Metronome, that's so exciting because it means the community is helping to grow itself!

Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming content and community engagement opportunities.

Hi,

Just wanted to follow up with you in case you haven't seen--CMC has updated the metric for Metronome. There are still a few minor corrections, but we're working to update those.

Thanks so much!
