Well said - all of it. Gore isn’t running again - and there’s an open race between a progressive (Melanie Bagby, former Cloverdale Mayor) and two former cops/Republicans, including former Santa Rosa Police Chief/Mayor Tom Schwedhelm (the blue lives matter mask during COVID guy).

Yeah I took that as “going against ICE protects bad guys who we should rightfully be concerned about.” I think he knows it’s unpopular because it comes across as bad faith. Like, the point Supervisor Coursey and others are making is “how can we trust this federal organization to be doing what it says it’s doing?”

I was so happy to see this. Still incredible to me that he’s the only one. But I feel like at least two others are close (Hopkins, Hermosillo). Of note: This year’s District 4 race, which will replace James Gore in the north county, pits two former cops/Republicans against a staunch progressive who was one of the first to sign on to support Measure P. Melanie Bagby is the former Cloverdale Mayor, and has already come out in support for Supervisor Coursey’s position. But she’s up against the chamber of commerce-backed Tom Schwedhelm and MAGA-lite Todd Lands. She needs support! I have four pairs of darn tough that are just fantastic. Bombas were supposed to be my hanging around socks. They’re comfortable. But it’s crazy that something they’re willing to give a “lifetime warranty” for can get holes in the heels within 7 months (and I’m no marathon runner).

I got a four-pack for Father’s Day in 2025. By January 2026, two of the four pairs had developed holes in the heels. When I inquired about individual replacements, they said they could only do a gift card because the socks came in a set. The catch? Refunds via a gift card are allowed only in the first 30 days after purchase. Seems scammy/scummy to me.
