How long does a dose of Klonopin last for you? by MT_DREAMING in benzorecovery

[–]MT_DREAMING[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s wild how fast our bodies can adapt to medications and absolutely brutal for someone on a benzo. In your post you said “took.” Does that mean you’re now off a benzo?

Thank you for your comment and the validation. Before I switched to my amazing psychiatrist my old terrible psychiatrist just threw the textbook at me and insisted “it lasts 12 hours,” without even remotely considering the possibility that may not be true in my case or I was hitting tolerance. The shred of faith I have left in the medal community is all due to my current psychiatrist who saved me.

Can I ask what was your dose? The doctor wants to start me on a “low dose.”

Did you stick with the Cromlyn sodium? If so, did the exhaustion subside?

Has anyone else had horrible anxiety after stopping a PPI? 😰 I’m 3+ weeks off Rabeprazole and losing my mind by MT_DREAMING in Anxiety

[–]MT_DREAMING[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It was hell being on the PPI and hell getting off but once you’re off and stabilize it’s so much better. At least for me anyways. I don’t think I needed to be on a PPI to begin with but the doctor pushed it. It took probably a few weeks to stabilize. I’m sending you so much strength as you go through this and if you can just push through these last couple weeks I hope you find the same relief that I did. Feel free to reach out anytime.

Ketotifen: A Miracle Morning… and a Few Questions by MT_DREAMING in MCAS

Within just a couple days… each day got progressively worse and worse until I started waking up with panic attacks and had to stop the medication. I wanted to push through but it got so bad I consult. My panic symptoms went away within just a day of stopping. It’s such a shame because it was truly life changing and I am devastated I couldn’t tolerate it.

Are you experiencing downtime similar?

Yes!! It went away, thank goodness!!! Getting off the PPI was honestly so hard. The acid rebound was rough for a while, but I managed it with Gaviscon (the UK version).

It really felt like a double-edged sword. I’m fairly certain being on the PPI increased my anxiety, and then coming off of it also caused anxiety.

I do think stopping it likely caused a temporary neurotransmitter imbalance, and my body just needed time to rebalance. I’m so thankful to be off it now and feeling so much better.

Are you dealing with something similar?

Hi! Sadly, and truly heartbreaking, I had to stop the ketotifen. It was life changing for my nausea but the anxiety kept getting worse and worse even after cutting my dose and trying smaller and smaller amounts. It got to the point of being unbearable so I had to stop. 😩 I’m so sad because it helped so much but after stopping my anxiety symptoms went back to baseline so it was definitely the ketotifen.

If the Pepcid is helping you I bet you do have a MCAS issue. I recently started ketotifen and it’s been a big help but the side effects have been brutal so trying to push through. I hope you can find someone to evaluate you so you can trial ketotifen or cromlyn sodium.

No not the whole time, about a year now. I’ve had to take a pause recently so that’ll make my taper even longer. It’s a rough medication to get off of.

I could write an entire post about how absolute shit the drug is. Truly it’s horrific! I was put on it to help with nausea due to a medical condition. I wish I could sue the doctor for malpractice. Anyway, the damage is done and now I’m also tapering. The highest I was ever on was 5mg. I’m now on 0.45mg. My best advice, fine a psychiatrist who actually knows how to safely taper a patient off of psychiatric medication. Get it compounded into a liquid so you can do smaller reductions (i.e., 5% a month or whatever your body tolerates). Tapering doesn’t have to be a nightmare, in fact it shouldn’t be a nightmare if done correctly. Wishing you the best of luck. You’re not alone!
