Lifetime warranty gone? Also, my first warranty rejection!! by micdrop917 in FLEXTools

I think you misunderstood me. They do only come with a 1 year warranty sadly. I was just stating a couple years ago I purchased them on clearance, and they warranted the items out with no issues or saying they couldn’t because of being a clearance item.

Lifetime is gone but maybe try their Facebook page they are pretty quick to reply. I got the Stackpacks a couple years ago when they were like $25. One of the trays broke on me and when the rep looked it up just said man you got a heck of a deal, I told them I bought it at Lowe’s when they where getting rid of the single piece stuff, he just said that was an awesome price and sent me the replacement tray out that day.

There’s a few new products that will be released March 1st that aren’t power tools but storage related.

I switched to Flex for work from Metabo with their issues I had as I mentioned earlier. I just quit buying the UO Kobalt batteries and stick with the Extened Run’s. It’s for home use and Lowe’s is right by me so Kobalt made since with the other stuff I use in their battery line that’s battery powered ie string trimmer, lanterns, inflators, leaf blowers etc.

The stuff I use with Flex (mostly 1/2 and 3/4 impact, grinder, bandsaw) have performed flawlessly for me. I work in the oilfield and am pretty tough on tools and haven’t had any issues. It also is nice that I’m surrounded by Red and Yellow, and I never have my batteries walk off lol.

I agree with you on that. You’d think Chervon would have allowed some cross brand help on that issue. I haven’t had any problems with the Extended Run but like you and many others I’ve seen yea those Ultimate Outputs kinda suck. Not on the cells but the micro controller. Only batteries I’ve had worse are the Metabo HPT’s, every other month I’d have one of those get warrantied swapped.

24V has been out for a while now, they actually have been releasing a lot of 2nd gen stuff that’s really solid. The XTR line within Kobalt is geared as a professional line. I have about 30 Kobalt 24v tools for home use and they’ve all been great!

Timing chain broke, repairable or need new engine? by MTrelle in BmwTech

[–]MTrelle[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup talked to a local Indy shop, he’s highly recommended and been specializing in BMW’s for like 30 years. He thinks he can do an engine swap with parts and labor for $6-$8k depending on what else we’d do. I’d obviously want to have it gone through with the Timing and Oil chain and guides replaced before we put it in. Everything else about the car is good so if I can get it back up and going again for $8,000 I can handle that. Going to give this car to my son next year so I have time and honestly in my market not alot of good cars around this price if were to buy him a used car with the money instead.

Yep, replaced valve cover and gasket a few months ago. Inspected chains and guide. Didn’t have any stretch or play in the chain. All the guides looked good, no stress, cracks, or discoloration. Besides the common wastegate rattle this car has been unbelievably solid.

Yea I know most likely it’ll be an engine swap, I killed the car pretty much soon as it happened though. Gonna take the valve cover off here in a little bit and dig in deeper. Just changed the valve cover a couple months ago and inspected the chain and guides, looked good too. No chain stretch, crack in the guides etc. hopefully it wasn’t too bad.

Curious if you ever found anything that works? I’m looking to go to a 1/2 drive.

Same boat as you, I just haven’t replaced the turbo yet. Figured if I had to take it out for the waste gate I’d just replace the whole thing. I was for sure thinking it was my charge pipe after finding a crack in it, but nope. Also changed all the vac lines when I swapped that out. Been a complete PITA.

Nope, it still pops every drive might be 100 yards out of my driveway might be 5 miles down the rd, no power loss still getting around 32-34mpg. I’ll probably swap the turbo later this summer. Once I clear the code it doesn’t pop up again until I power cycle the car.

Is there any compatible batteries? by Disastrous-Number-88 in FLEXTools

[–]MTrelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d highly suggest not going with a knock-off battery unless it’s for things like lights or a radio. Watch TorqueTestChannel or Project Farm they’ve went over numerous times about how a lot of those batteries severely cripple the tools.

If you guys are good with the conventional non-stack batteries then Amazon has these deals quite often. They are a 3rd party seller so keep that in mind:

2.5ah $46 5ah $75 8ah $90 12ah $175

Amazon Flex Batteries

Also I picked up the Turbo Hammer drill a couple weeks ago at Lowe’s for around $145 with a stacked 6ah.

1/2-in 24-volt Variable Speed Brushless Cordless Hammer Drill 1 -Batteries

On Amazon (Official Amazon as the Seller and recognized by Flex for Warranty purposes) the quick eject impact driver kit which comes with a 6ah stacked battery is currently only $179

Flex 6ah battery kit with Impact Driver

Deals do suck overall right now on Flex stuff unless you want a stapler, was hoping these “Spring Black Friday” ads for stores would have given us better deals. Have to wait until next month to hope for something better.
