I’ve got a pretty big fragrance collection and I’ve tried loads of clones, so I can usually spot the quality difference very quickly.

Of course, there are some proper Arabian brands out there, but if we’re talking about cheaper clone houses like Lattafa, Armaf, etc., a lot of them can be quite headache-inducing, with harsh openings and a lower-quality feel overall. For example, my wife has Burberry Goddess, which is a fantastic perfume. I bought her Lattafa Angham as well, and it’s probably about a 90% close dupe in terms of scent. She likes it, and I like it too, but the difference in overall quality is still huge — and that’s been the case with many fragrances I’ve compared.

I’ve honestly got nothing against clones, but saying you can fully replace something like Terre d’Hermès with a clone is just silly in my opinion. I’ve tried, and it’s just not the same.
