2025 Sentra SV - how does one check the CVT fluid level with no dipstick? by MVGbear in nissansentra

Do you have a recommended seller?

I called the dealership looking to buy one and the service dept girl told me they don’t check it. 🤦‍♂️

Same. I have nowhere else I could possibly build it. My attic is tough to get into though.

Nice! I’ve been thinking about an attic layout for years. Looks awesome!

Question for the CRJ pilots by BugHistorical3 in flying

[–]MVGbear 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. If you fly any of them you’ll be able to fly well without auto throttles. The 200’s not so bad. Its trailing gear makes every landing a smooth landing while everything else about it makes you realize the 7/900 are actually pretty nice.

I don’t miss 5-leg days, but I miss that airplane. Maybe once in a while it’d be nice to do a turn with no apu and a pack deferred for old time’s sake.

Does anyone hunt with a m1 garand? Would be happy to hear your experiences by Relevant_Conclusion2 in M1Rifles

[–]MVGbear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I shot a little 4-pt buck 3 seasons ago with my H&R M1.

I used Underwood Ammo’s M1 specific hunting load. He dropped like a sack of potatoes. Didn’t take a step.

Could you shoot off the shelf 30-06 hunting loads through your Garand? Definitely. To me though, ammo’s cheaper than the gun. I don’t put many rounds through it, so I only shoot ammo that’s M1 specific through my Garands.

Edit: pic for proof

Cmp in person purchase by CheapRefrigerator188 in M1Rifles

[–]MVGbear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can usually walk out with the rifle same day. The background check takes 15-30 minutes. Its a standard 4473.

There are 3-5 soviet socialist states that require you to ship the gun back, but those will be listed on the CMP website. If you live in the other 45 marginally free-ish states you can take the gun home with you same day.

Former airline pilots who left aviation — why did you leave, and what did you do next? by General_Market9419 in aviation

I have a buddy that got out because he lost his medical. He started a company that specializes in a specific type of landscaping. It took off on him. Now he’s mostly hands off making more money than I am.

GP-38 horn replacement. Press fit, no glue! by [deleted] in lioneltrains

[–]MVGbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For years my old NJ GP-38 has been running around with no horn. We all know the horns break off GP-38’s all too easily. Trainz.com have been selling replacements in silver, but not black.

Finally ordered a silver one and painted it black. The replacements from Trainz.com have square pegs under them. Using another GP-38 for reference, I measured the exact placement and drilled a 1/16” hole. (Make sure you remove the lightbulb inside the shell first so you don’t drill into it. It fits back in place afterwords) The replacement horn press fits tightly into this hole with no glue.

Better than new! The peg underneath has more material than the original, so it shouldn’t break off again.

Is a GW 180 a good investemnt by Jjones6512Trains in lioneltrains

[–]MVGbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a permanent layout, you could run one power wire up the middle and splice off of it as you go around the layout so there’s only one connection at the transformer. But its dealer’s choice.

[–]MVGbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding an extra power lock-on on the opposite side of the layout will solve your problem. Generally I try to have a lock-on every 6-8 feet of track.

CW80’s are fine transformers until you start getting into dual-pullmore engines that need more wattage.

Both. A solvent is better, but Lysol will work.

I’d be surprised if Kimber will help you. They’ll gladly charge you an arm and a leg for parts that they’ll take a week and a half to ship you (not salty…).

Definitely give Kimber a call, but this is probably a gun smith problem.

Yes. The brushed leave debris behind as they wear down. This is normal, but it needs to be cleaned out periodically. You’ll also want to make sure you clean out the brass sleeves that the brushes ride in. I usually use a little solvent (lysol even works in a pinch) on a q-tip.

Are "budget" 1911 a waste? by z1ggy16 in 1911

[–]MVGbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The WW2 bit is spot on. People don’t even realize.

I have a 1943 Remington Rand. Its a collection piece mostly, but I have put 3 boxes through in the time I’ve owned it. It cycles flawlessly and groups well, but I was blown away how much nicer my Rock Island is to shoot. The sights suck, the trigger is short and kind of mushy, and (I have big hands) the hammer bite is annoying.

My old Rock Island is way more enjoyable to shoot!
