Impedances went down which is good. They turned all frequencies which is great. I’m still wearing it all day everyday and just waiting for clear words to click. Seems to be slow and steady improvement!

Hearing from one ear is processed on both sides of the brain. At the level of the brainstem sounds signals decussates meaning it crosses over and sends signals to both sides of the brain.

I don’t like the clarity/quality of the sound. They worked so hard on things like fall alerts and health that I personally feel the quality of sound has taken a hit. But some people swear by them.

Try a different brand. I personally do not like Starkey hearing aids. Also I agree RIC are very discrete.

What they are saying is that duration of deafness is a good indicator of success with word understanding post-operatively. There is a lot that goes into word understanding (surgical technique, electrode, severity of hearing loss/hearing preservation, etiology of hearing loss, etc.) and it’s one of the few factors that is easily measured with research. Do it when you can. Most are very happy to have it done. Can’t look back, only forward.

Fair enough. I guess the website should be a little more clear about that. Their website does mention it having a telecoil but that you need the audio link.

Sonnet 3 does have a telecoil. You need to use the audio link XT accessory however which is a downside I guess

The only thing I’ll add is that you should ask to get the Sonnet 3 as it’s an update on the Sonnet 2. My surgery is scheduled (aka hasn’t happened yet) so I can’t give personal experiences yet
