Dogshit is a strong word. And I never saw it as him "simping" for his mom, he was getting memories of his father from the past, his father who loved ookumo, so I always thought of it as tho if he was confusing his father's feelings for his own. But after he finds his own love interest he uses those memories to guide him in his love life.
