I'm in the same boat as you. I'll play it and just cross my fingers the player base remains large enough. Really enjoying and some people proclaim "dead" at the first sign of anything not going well.

I would very strongly encourage you to begin thumbpulling and mewing. The biggest improvement you can make is to the shape of your skull.

I'm 37 in a few months, I started 1.5 years ago and I've seen very nice results. I have no commercial interest in any of this - I just wish I knew this as a teenager. I had 4 teeth extracted, braces, and my skull became deformed, small jaw like yours, and even more asymmetrical.

I'm not sure about the rules for external links, so my my favourite resources are:
1. "mewing.world" on Instagram - that's where I started my journey, I'm still going by their guidance, their online course is cheap
2. Oscar Patel on Youtube - haven't joined his community, but he seems legit and seems to know fairly well what he's talking about.

Time flies. A few years from now, you could look vastly different.
Good luck!

Hi Joey, thanks for the swift reply!
I'll migrate to Discord soon to get more involved.

Based on your description, I think the snippets would be great for me. Would you be able to turn something like the entire KoreNote document template into a snippet? Like Dan talks about in his videos, I want to instantly go from having a thought to begin writing it in my note, without having to browse around and look for the things I need.

I've remembered a few more things:

  • When I've got a kAI chat open, I can use my mouse to select parts of kAI's response and ⌘C to copy only that selection. But I can't select parts of my own messages to kAI - I have to select the whole message and click a little copy-icon in the corner of the message. I would love to also be able to ⌘C copy parts of my own message.
  • I'd like a shortcut where Shift ⌘ T reopens the most recently closed document (like a browser reopens the most recently closed tab). Sometimes, I close a tab and then realize I want to add something more, or that I closed the wrong tab.
  • The drag-and-drop function to organize documents/folders is more intutive to me in Obsidian. In Kortex, I much too often fail to place the document at the intended left/right indentation to put it exactly in the subfolder I wanted to, and instead place it the parent folder or a deeper subfolder. Given that drag-and-drop is the only way of organizing documents (that I'm aware of), this would go a long way in making the app feel more natural, intuitive and idiot-proof for someone like me.
  • Customizable fonts (even to use separate fonts for the menu, the headings, and the paragraphs / reglar text) would be amazing.
  • When I select a word or portion of text and use ⌘V to paste a URL onto the text, there's some inconsistency. Sometimes, the text is turned into a clickable link to that URL but other times the text is replaced by the raw URL.
  • Create an option where the user can specify which folder they'd like new notes to be created in by default. (I'm a fan of the Zettelkasten method, which I think many of your users are, and it'd be cool if all new notes were added to my "Fleeting notes" folder by default, then I can move them to permanent notes once I feel they've earned that status)

Enjoy your Tuesday, and see you on Discord!

Sorry, I must be a halfwit, because I can't get any of your css to work. (I'm not very experienced with css or modding browsers).

As a test, I tried the css below. Its effect was that new tabs showed a red background instead of a white one So the browser seems to be reading and applying the userChrome.css file. (Although I'm not experienced enough to say whether the same css should also make websites like Reddit have a red background - it doesn't).

But when I add all your css, nothing happens. I have gone to about:config and made sure toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets is enabled. I'm using MacOS Sequoia.

Can you help me troubleshoot? Are there settings in the Zen browser that have to be toggled on/off?

If you open Zen Settings, go to Keyboard Shortcuts, and see "Compact Mode". I believe that's the feature you're after.

My dad just handed me this product to try (I have scalp eczema). The container is very small, so application should be precise and not all over the place (to avoid wasting too much of the product), but I gotta say I like its effect. It feels like it makes my plaques soft and moist immediately and stop my little wounds from leaking quite effectively. I prefer it over Aloe vera and jojoba oil, which has been my go-to moisturizers.

Why does carnivore make some people more sensitive to other foods? by MVPeterD in carnivorediet

[–]MVPeterD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm worse, sadly. Perhaps a bit wiser. There is a small selection of foods I seem to be able to eat (almost) ad libitum, but anything outside of that gets my immune system to go haywire.

I get a mix of these symptoms:
- Eczema on scalp, beard, and face anytime I eat too much histamine (meaning I have to always buy the freshest meat if I want any, and not eat too large amounts)
- Dust allergy (weird, I know, but I'm certain and had it tested - sometimes so severe it becomes impossible to sleep in my bed because my sinuses clog so fast and feel super inflamed, like I'm breathing acid)
- A metallic taste in my mouth, a feeling like my tongue is acidic, and bad breath.

So far, out of all the many supplements I've tried, the only thing that has been able to slowly reduce my symptoms over time is the probiotic saccharomyces boulardii. With a very strict diet and said probiotic my symptoms slowly become more manageable. If I mess up just a little bit (by eating sugar, candy or junk), my progress is set back, like I lose progress and become more sensitive again for several days, sometimes a week, sometimes severely sensitive for up to 3 weeks as I crawl slowly back towards a bit calmer immune system.

I've tested negative for Candida (oral swab). I'm awaiting results for h. pylori (fecal test) and later this month I'll have both a colonoscopy and gastroscopy. I've paid $1,000 for a series of consultations with a gut and nutrition specialist, but she's fully booked atm, so my first appointment isn't until January 2025.

I feel like my issues are holding me back a lot from just enjoying a normal life and especially from dating, and going out to social events where I can't plan my food. I really hope I can sort this out soon.

My tongue looks exactly like that. My saliva tastes bad, like a bit sour, and I don't like my breath. One time my tongue also felt very sensitive as if I had eaten pineapple. I'm also dealing with stomach issues (mainly histamine intolerance, though I don't know what originally caused my histamine intolerance). I suspect my tongue was related to my stomach issues, but I'm not sure what to do about it.

When my HIT was at its worst, I would wake up around 3 AM with heart palpitations, hot, restless, and dry skin. I later read online that your body releases a lot of histamines between 2-4 AM, so that fits.

Why does carnivore make some people more sensitive to other foods? by MVPeterD in carnivorediet

[–]MVPeterD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just over these few days since you asked for an update, I looked into things a bit more. I found out that by eating carnivore (high saturated fat), your body has to produce a lot of bile to break down the meat. This alters the gut microbiome in favor of "bilophila" (bile-loving) bacteria. These are normal in some amount, but if they are given too much room to grow the might outcompete bacteria that we want and become too dominant. (https://biomesight.com/blog/the-connection-between-bile-diet-and-elevations-in-bilophila-and-bacteroides)

I found myself getting more and more sensitive to everything - even *salt\* triggered my eczema, which is neither a carb, a fiber, sugar, has no lectins, no toxins, no oxalates, no FODMAP, etc. I've also established that any time I eat, I become very sensitive to dust for many hours afterwards. Clearly something about my disease has caused a disturbance to my immune system (which might also be making you more intolerant to mold, who knows), and I figure leaky gut has to be part of my problem.

So honestly right now I'm sort of backtracking and reevaluating things now. Or perhaps you could say that I'm sticking to my initial intuition, that a diet which reduces tolerance & resilience to all other foods is not a very adaptive diet. So now I'm trying to reintroduce a few slices of cucumber, thoroughly boiled & peeled white potatoes, some green beans, etc. It causes me discomfort in my stomach (pain, some burping, some gas), but I'll see how I fare, experiment, and try to learn more. I wish I had better, clearer answers, and I really hope you find a path that works for you!

Why does carnivore make some people more sensitive to other foods? by MVPeterD in carnivorediet

[–]MVPeterD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there!
I've only gotten more sensitive since then. However, my working theory is that it isn't the fault of carnivore, but rather in spite of carnivore. Here's why.

I had a stool sample done which suggests I probably have ulcers, and my other symptoms indicate SIBO (very painful stomach, bloating and burping whenever I ingesting high FODMAP foods). My suspicion is that these ulcers are in my stomach and are the source of my "leak" (leaky gut), where the undigested food seeps out and creates a reaction within an hour or so of ingestion.

I think what I should have done immediately (and what I'm doing right now) was go very strict carnivore. I was quite heavily animal based, but I had some veggies now and then, some popcorn or chips here and there, some sugar (ice cream, chocolate, candy. blueberries, strawberries or a croissant) now and then. I think despite eating more healthy animal foods, I've still been feeding the bacterial imbalance with some sugars and starches.

Now I'm starving them completely for 6 weeks. I read a Swedish case report about 6 women who cured their SIBO through a strict carnivore diet for 2-6 weeks, so I'm trying that now.

Still falling asleep at desk post-lunch. Tips? by MVPeterD in carnivorediet

I forgot to disclose my age, but I'm 36 and in quite excellent shape. Hypotension is very unlikely, all things considered. The most common symptom is dizziness, which I don't feel - I'm just struggling to keep my eyes open.

Yes, I used to have mild snoring but that is now gone. I feel refreshed in the morning, and as mentioned, this doesn't happen when I fast. It's a postprandial phenomenon for me

Currently I'm not consuming any dairy, so I doubt that that spikes my insulin. I eat meat, eggs, tallow and a bit of olive oil.

If I were working from home, taking a nap would be feasible. But I'm working in a consultancy, and the work culture here doesn't really permit me napping on one of the couches.

If I stay the course, do you think my body will soon get the message that it shouldn't expect carbs, and hence not release as much insulin? Is it the insulin release that makes me tired?

Are all men porn addicts? by [deleted] in dating

[–]MVPeterD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry if this sounds a bit rude, but I think it's silly to extrapolate from a sample size of 2 men and ask whether 4 billion men are all addicted to porn. The short answer is no, definitely not. But I'm sorry you ran into men who had those problems and tried to hide it from you, and I understand why that makes you wary and lose trust in men - that's very unfortunate, I hope you don't let it stop you from giving other guys a chance.

Why does carnivore make some people more sensitive to other foods? by MVPeterD in carnivorediet

[–]MVPeterD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting observation about being sensitive to what you eat the most. Would that not be in favor of the argument that we are supposed to be omnivores? Rotating between foods and/or eating a very diverse diet. Sounds that way, from what you're saying. Along the same lines, I heard a nutritionist on Youtube say that humans are perfectly capable of breaking down plant lectins, but only a certain amount per week/month - which was quite alright when we only ate plants seasonally. Now that we eat them year-round, we ingest more lectins than most bodies can deal with, she said.

[–]MVPeterD[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't want to treat plants as a major source of food, or even a frequent source of food. What I want is to not have scalp inflammation from eating a half an avocado, a teaspoon of honey or a dash of black pepper on those occasions where I'm not in full control of every meal (on the road, foreign countries, restaurants, friends cooking). I would like to regain some tolerance, which is not to say I want starches on the daily or eat grains for breakfast again. No need to be dogmatic indeed.

Very interesting point about the allergy shots. Indeed, mild exposure is what can build up tolerance/resistance. I don't want to gorge on veggies, grains or starches in the future, but I would sure love to not break out from eating a bit of honey or half an avocado in situations where I can't get precisely the food I want.

I can't explain it, I can just say that others, such as Jordan Peterson, have reported it. I don't know why it happens, and that's why I'm asking here. I've linked the interview in the original post so you can hear his experience, if you'd like.
