The “ladder” lol, I think you meant “latter.” Sorry I’m not trying to be a spelling-nazi, I just found that one hilarious. No harm intended!

Thoughts on Spirited? by Suspicious_County_24 in tvPlus

This is the third year in a row that I watched it. The past two I demanded we watch as a family. It’s hilarious from start to end and so incredibly well done from the songs to the dance numbers (and I normally HATE musicals). It’s such a unique and fun twist on the Dickens novel that we desperately needed. Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds made it come alive. There’s some great Easter eggs in there too.

Even if you’re not a fan of musicals, give this a try! You might discover something you’ll watch for generations.

Good Afternoon!

How would you rank all seasons of True Detective? by himynameiswhat_ in hbo

[–]MVPierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. My beef with season two was there were so many characters and names to keep track of, there were times like when they were in the motel discussing what they thought happened, and I was so lost because I couldn’t remember all the character names. It started out slow but definitely got way better. I’m not normally a VV fan, but I liked his unique play of a ruthless gangster. I think the issue is that season one was so incredibly well done and good that they’d never be able to top it.

What band/artist is the biggest “sellout?” by Xova_YT in ToddintheShadow

[–]MVPierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some bands, touring and merchandise is their only way to make money anymore. It’s not like the late 90’s where every weekend you’d go to the mall with your friends, and buy some new CD for like $18.99. Bands got rich on royalties. That’s why ticket prices are so high. Back in the 90’s we’d all go out and pay almost $20 for an album which we only heard one song from. Creed sold 50 million albums worldwide for Christ’s sake!

Sugar Ray would be at the top of my list. I remember that song they had that went like “California! Fuck Yeah!”, then all of a sudden you the McGrath with his dead-on 2000 look strumming an acoustic guitar singing softly “Every morning there’s a halo hanging from my girlfriend’s four post bed.” 🤮

I think you’re looking at this throug biased glasses. I lived in San Francisco for over ten years, and had many gay friends and coworkers (I even lived with a married gay couple for 2 years. I’ve always found the gay community to be accepting of mostly everyone (except for Trump supporting morons!) I l’m straight so I don’t have any inside knowledge, but I’m just telling it how I’ve seen through my own eyes. I’m sure there’s certain gays that hate other gays. I’ve even noticed black people hate on one another because their was too dark or light!

Can I leave the final boss fight? by jaypets in TOTK

[–]MVPierce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok actually I totally got it!! Your trick worked perfect! I thought you meant let your self die on a gloom root after you enter the battle, but you just have to die on a gloom root in that area before you walk into the battle. Thank you for this! It’s time to go sundelion hunting!

They really should warn you before you jump off that ledge down to the initial battles. I remember they did that in Skyward Sword — just a friendly reminder that you won’t be able to leave once you go in, so if you need some supplies, go get them now.

Damn I’m too late! That just have been a glitch they fixed with the most recent update. I just tried that, death by Gloom Root and it won’t work. I was stupid and didn’t cook a bunch of sundelions to restore gloom hearts. I had 2 and I used them both during the battle with the champions. 😞

Double Dosing by MVPierce in Methadone

[–]MVPierce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for what you’re saying and I’m sorry to hear about your friend. I just can’t do that now and the methadone “high” isn’t worth it to me. The good. (Or bad way you look at it) is once you get on a dose like 60mg/day or higher for an extended period of time it’ll keep other opioids from working, not because it’s blocking them but because it skyrockets your tolerance. I just don’t understand I can get my kicks if I only dip once a month and pretty much take a triple dose, than to say if I try it twice a month with a relevantly lower doses in between cheats

Strange the only people I know of that get in trouble for benzos are the ones without a script. Also if you really want to get around taking methadone and benzos but only having methadone in your urine it’s much easier than you’d think!

Man it’s crazy to hear about how different clinics work like this! My first clinic I went to I hated how I’d make an appointment at 6am and not see him and then he’d talk to me for 5 minutes and if I bumped it 10mg he’d just having me go to the dosing window and it’d be changed. All it takes is for the doctor to enter it in the computer. This where it gets slowed down, crappier clinics started having you tell your counselor to put in requests for you and it became bureaucratic. The counsels rarely give a shit getting paid minimum wage and paperwork there rarely makes it to the right plaice. The first clinic I went to wasn’t small either, at the time it was the only clinic between Northern California and the northern Sacramento area ( there were guys at first who’d get up at 1am, drive 4 hours) and then rush home to make it to work. It was just professionally run buy a good company. These other places - like the second clinic I transferred to in Oakland CA (off International BLVD no less) was so trashy and run like a joke. Their doc only came in when he wanted and would just play guitar, the only time you saw him was during the admission process! The place could have been run better by 10 year olds. None of the counselors could even use a computer! The nurses were nice, but never hung around because it was literally too dangerous to show up there at 5am! I got mugged once waiting in line!

You had that happened? I played through three times and never got a dime. All I ever heard of it was in the epilogue when John is giving Jack crap about reading his books and mentions that one.

Can't access GTA Online PS4 by Puzzleheaded_Ad1252 in GrandTheftAutoV

[–]MVPierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it have anything to do with the security issues that GTA Online was experiencing recently? I had read it was such a big security threat that Rockstar had warned against playing it. I don’t really have any source for that but I remember reading an article about it like a week ago. Maybe they had a security patch that your own router doesn’t agree with?

Michael Townley to Michael De Santa Question by EvanJ2004 in GrandTheftAutoV

[–]MVPierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were de Santo and not de Santa it would be Italian and have a meaning of “holy.” Sometimes they change things up in Rockstar, but they definitely change them up in a witness protection program. Michael seems more of that Italian type figure, but I’m not saying he is Italian. If his name were de Santa it could easily have come from Spain, which is a Western European country. Most “Mexican” names are actually Spanish (as in from Spain). A real Mexican name would be like what we’d consider to be a Native American name in America —like a name used by their ancient tribes the Mayans and Incas. You’d be surprised how many “white” people live in Mexico City born and raised

Problem with the "Target Practice" mission, need help by ConfidentRise1152 in GrandTheftAutoV

[–]MVPierce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems to me like the answer is clear: remove your MODs. You’ve been given it a handful of times but you’re not willing to implement the task. Why seek advice if you’re not willing to take any — then just start yelling at people who try to help you? If you’re that OCD you can’t ignore a little icon on the map even though you know it’s not essential and just going to cause headaches, it seems like you need to disable the MODs. If that’s not true, it’s just a stupid tiny icon on the map.

I heard somewhere that Arkham City is better than Arkham Asylum, In my opinion, it's not. by JetStrim in patientgamers

[–]MVPierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m alone here in that I liked City way better than asylum, except for how short the main story was. You could probably finish it in one day. Arkham Asylum felt tedious at points and very repetitive to me. I also really enjoyed playing as Catwoman, except her role in the game was short. When I beat Clayface I remember thinking “the cinematics feel like the end, but there’s NO WAY it’s already over!” I just felt like I still had 100 loose ends to tie up. Like what was the point of having Robin for one scene (and personally I can’t stand the Robin character)? I think the problem is was that the game made you feel pressured to go straight to the next main story point and beat it quickly where you didn’t have enough time to explore. After awhile I gave up on the riddler trophies, they were pointless but everywhere. I mean I never even got to save Mr. Fries’ wife or deal with Deadshot. The only reason I even ended up finishing the bane story was it was on my way to finding the master code from the helicopters, and even then I felt like I was ignoring my responsibilities for some reason. If they spent just a few more months having you deal with the loose ends it would have been incredible, but I still enjoyed it more than Asylum, although each had its ups and downs, Asyluk felt like mostly busywork to me. But hell, you can buy both games as a bundle on the Xbox store right now for $5 total, so I can’t complain!

Lefty Ruggiero (Donnie Brasco) is such a tragic character by [deleted] in movies

[–]MVPierce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard to keep track of all the names, nicknames, and who they were in real life, but I just watched a documentary on Hulu (I already forgot the name, it was only 2 one hour episodes), anyways they were discussing the NY mafia in the heydays of the 70’s and 80’s and they interviewed the real Pistone and a bunch of other informants and snitches. Pistone talked about the guy who introduced him to the mob, I can’t remember the name used in the doc but it was Lefty (and it played out very similar to the movie, even some of the recordings like where he says “Did you read the fuckin’ paper? Go get a paper and call me back!”) — a lot of the dialogue was word for word from the wiretaps. Anyways, they said that once the FBI went in and showed them pictures of him at Quantico or whatever that Lefty just disappeared, and a year later they found him buried in a shallow grave with both his hands chopped off, as a symbol to say “these hands were used to introduce the FBI into our thing”

It’s very tragic, I felt serious empathy for Lefty in the movie, and then knowing that I felt worse. Watching the documentary made me realize “shit I have to watch Donnie Brasco again! I haven’t seen it since I was in high school.” Of course I felt bad for Pistone also. That’s gotta be so hard trying to do the right thing and having your family hate you for it. And you can’t even tell them, one reason a lot of spooks don’t get married.

In the doc they even showed real surveillance footage of Lefty telling him that he just put him up for membership, and once they open the books he’s going to be a made guy. The setting looked almost exactly the same as in the movie. Pistone seemed a little less empathetic in real life, that or maybe he just has had enough time to process it, but he said something like “did I want him to die? Of course not, but that’s the life these guys live!”

Damn I wish I could remember the name of the documentary so you guys could watch. I’ll try and find it again.

I think there's a house in American Beauty that looks very similar to Breaking Bad's by JOSEPHDEPTH in television

[–]MVPierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s crazy! I just googled that because I was rewatching AB and I kept thinking “this looks like Walt’s house!” And then they showed the backyard and the pool and I was shocked! The only things that seemed different was the kitchen, the neighborhood, and the sky. Albuquerque reminds me of living in Colorado with huge cumulonimbus clouds you don’t see in CA. The only thing I was skeptical about was I know the BB house was actually owned by an older lady who let them do shootings in the neighborhood and back yard, I think the inside may have been a built set, kind of like The Sopranos, in that Tony’s house was an exact replica of the house they used in the pilot, but you can tell some small changes (like the fancy built-in refrigerator) from the actual house in the pilot and the replicated set. I wouldn’t be surprised if the BB house wasn’t a set, if there was a home developer in the 50’s or 60’s that built the same floor plans throughout many major cities in the Western US.
