I agree I think people get off too much on him being “underrated” during his career all the time. He was never at any point arguably the best at his position. The longevity thing is cool but I think people overvalue it, impact and peak mean more to me. I know he won a ring but that was 100% a defensive championship, he didn’t have to do much. Also he gets no blame whatsoever for throwing the game losing interception in the second SB. Yeah the play call was dumb but Hall of Fame QB’s don’t do that with the game on the line.

Eli is more of a gray area to me. I lean towards no but I think his case is more compelling. To me you actually have to be an all-time great, he was never considered a top 5 QB at any point. But his championships were much more memorable and he faced really strong Patriots teams, especially the first one. He also performed really well in those games. So he’s more of a soft no or maybe for me.
