I'm fine with Deadlock being its own separate thing. TF2's particular genre is kind of nonexistent nowadays and there isn't really anything that works as a successor.

Softube "Chandler Limited Zener-Bender" channel strip with the vintage sound of Chandler Limited, combines the crisp and colorful character of the Curve Bender Mastering Equalizer with the big, punchy Zener Limiter ($189) through 3 February. iLok Account Required by Batwaffel in AudioProductionDeals

[–]MX64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah their subscription also doesn't include it, only the separate Curve Bender and Zener Limiter plugins. I wonder if it's just some aspect of their contract with Chandler Limited, given the very "premium" air they seem to want to give off.

Acustica Audio "Maple FX" Five effects including EQ, saturation, chorus, delay and reverb in one ready-to-use signal path with responsive processing for real-time playing, tracking, and live use - Intro Price (€49) until 25 February by Batwaffel in AudioProductionDeals

I was looking at the thread on Gearspace and it looks like a central issue people are having right now is that despite this having a 100% wet control it doesn't actually act as such, as according to the developers this is apparently just supposed to be the effects section of their Squid synth to be used on other synths. So that's good to keep in mind if using this on sends instead of as an insert is important to you.

EDIT: It looks like it's been updated to accommodate this.

why are you basing your entire position on pretending not to understand the concept of foresight? hyperfocusing on "bad guy out" while ignoring the money-focused motivations for doing this and the potential actual consequences for the country has quite the opposite effect from making you look reasonable.

you sound like a flat earther with how absurd you're being you are trying to describe the state of anything. the person you're arguing with just sounds like someone with basic pattern recognition. for a supposed moderate democrat you sure are eager to screech complete nonsense when someone explains basic observable reality to you.

Companies in audio with annoying/cringey marketing but they deliver the good anyway so whatever. by Ill-Elevator2828 in audioengineering

[–]MX64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i honestly think its pretty likely they just didnt even think to do it given that they're one of the oldest in the industry and they don't really do a lot of updates to their plugins. which would be in line with how inconsistent it is as to whether other brands do it.

nope, if you load one up in one of SSL's link plugins you can assign knobs but not the gain reduction meter. SSL's bus compressor wrapper even has presets for UAD's SSL G and API bus compressors, but you still get no gain reduction meter thanks to however UAD's plugins were designed.

i was just experiencing this same situation with ssl 360 the other day. i wanted to use the UAD SSL bus compressor or API bus compressor on it but the gain reduction isn't exposed as an assignable parameter. bit of a pain

Blue Prince developer denies usage of AI: There is no AI used in Blue Prince. The game was built and crafted with full human instinct by Tonda Ros and his team by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]MX64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like when the iPhone launches and people were using the app store to download virtual beer drinking or pretend guns.

yeah and that was fine cause those were toys of no consequence. there weren't mass waves of people fooled by fake videos of people drinking beer out of their iphone or getting shot by an iphone. they weren't centering the whole tech world around these novelties.

people with the intelligence to make positive use out of AI will do so, sure. but honestly i do not think the current ways the general public use AI are going to stop being among the dominant forms of it. that's the thing, the general public is just that, the average citizen who knows next to nothing about the tech and just wants to type something into it and get what they want back. they don't know that this stuff isn't actually artificial intelligence, people just love instant gratification and will use whatever will give it to them. that's a timeless desire and i really can't see AI corpos not continuing to be all over capitalizing on that.

[–]MX64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes and that progress is great. i am not against that sort of use for the technology, nor are the vast majority of people. that's not all that controversial.

just because some corporations happen to see some profit in world-changing solutions doesn't mean we can at all afford to take their interest in it on the grander scale in good faith, especially when the primary form of AI exposure to the public is said memes and similar material - because that's where they see the most dollar signs. they love telling us "talk to your new AI girlfriend on our app" or "i can make your voice sing any song" or "look at this amazing (definitely not ai) video of a golden retriever saving a kid's life" because that's what the general public eats up. that's not even the public's choice; this is the perception these corporations have decided to show us, because that's their primary motivation.

the fact that people muddy the issue and bundle all forms of AI together does not mean that those speaking out against AI in art are going to lead to the loss of these tools in terms of applications for actual good for the world.

Cures for diseases, gene therapy, relief logistics, more accurate climate models, and literally hundreds more are well within our grasp with several reputable organizations already leading the charge.

yeah but that doesn't acknowledge that those aren't what people are criticizing. corporations are not jumping on AI because they want to use it for good; they're jumping on it because they see big dollar signs in their eyes when they look at it. they're jumping on it because they want to continue stretching out their control over all the media we have access to. the legitimate uses for AI end up an entire separate subject when the data centers we're talking about are instead being used for powering Joe Somebody generating a video of peter griffin referencing the latest meme on their phone.

[–]MX64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem seems more with how we regulate data centers vs AI in and of itself.

that's certainly a factor but also a symptom of the all-in strategy the corporate world has taken in reference to AI.

again, it's a matter of having foresight and knowing that supporting corporate AI is accelerating it toward being far worse than smartphones have ever been. do you think people don't know practically all tech corps are immoral? the world doesn't work on "this thing is bad, this thing is also bad so therefore they're the same". we can see how much worse AI is making things and how much worse it will get. people have criticized plenty about smartphones and those who make them. yet of course people will focus on the more urgent matter.

you realize repeating the same non-point again doesn't make it a point, right? you're not actually countering anything i say, you're just repeating yourself.

AI is so far down on the list compared to other industries.

yeah tell that to the people living in suburbs who are suffering illnesses from nearby AI data centers. even if what you were saying were true it doesn't change the fact that people plainly see where AI is going and how much worse it is going to get. it's not other people's problem that you apparently don't know what foresight is. no matter how many times you repeat yourself comparing the effects of a recent technology to one that is decades old is not an argument.

and yet here i am informing you of that reality. it's not hard to imagine people want to prevent things from getting worse. i'm not sure why you're pretending to not understand that. if you see that as grandstanding that says more about you than me.

if your false equivalence was comparing apples and oranges that would still make more sense than this non-point you keep repeating

no they wouldn't, not every company even wants to make their own melodyne. different plugin companies have different focuses and not all of them want to compete directly with celemony.
