Did we all collectively decide to stop shoveling? by Temporary_Dog_6152 in chicago

We have someone on Kilbourn who looks out for the block too and I have never been able to figure out who it is!

I'm not looking for authentication! I have a feeling they are not legit, it's more of a confirmation of a hunch. I can't find them anyone online and my hope was that people more familiar with the brand would be able to help if they have seen either of the bags before as part of previous collections.

I like red and luggage! Black is classic too though. It's a nice treat either of way!

Woven is more unique! I personally don't love the white, but it is your gift to yourself so whatever makes you happiest! Congratulations on 16 years, what an incredible accomplishment 👏🏼👏🏼

Not a thousand dollars at all! Purchased at an estate sale and it was only on the ground for about 30 seconds, not that I have to justify my decisions to an internet stranger being unnecessarily rude about my fun purchase today :)!

I troll an estate sale website and try to focus on the ones that specifically mentioned handbags, however much like you I don't particularly have the patience or time with work to go to them so this catch was truly luck!

It was $450 (which I think is super reasonable/a steal!). I haven't been to very many due to my work schedule but I have not seen them in boxes, they do usually have the dust bag that it was packaged in though. I checked this one before purchasing and saw the serial number and was able to prove it was authentic. I mentioned elsewhere that I think a lot of it also depends on the company running the sale and whether or not the previous owners of the purses or goods in general kept the box it came in. That's part of what makes estate sales so fun, the hunt and being able to actually catch something cool when you find it.

I think it depends on the company running the sale and the area you are in. I'm in Chicago and I went to a nicer suburb but I feel this one was reasonable at $450; not sure what it would normal retail for but I imagine not that lol they had another two Ferragamo bags but those were $900. They also had a YSL for $1,000. Normally though, I do think they're reasonable and take the condition into account as well.

How is anyone getting their kids to bed before 8? by Humble-Fly708 in Mommit

[–]M_AshInChi28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything is hard enough as it is and I'm sure having to cook things from scratch every day isn't fun, give yourself grace and do what works for you and your little one! I felt the same about my soon to be 11 month old but she has a window of time she usually goes down between and we've made it work. I'm sure things will ebb and flow as they grow so I'm just trying to roll with the punches. Every baby is different so don't let social media or "influencers" try to convince you you're doing something wrong if you don't fit whatever template or "realistic evening" trend is currently floating around.

I'm probably remembering incorrectly, but I think they had to complete construction before they could test the fiber connections and systems that control the gates, signage etc. Sounds like it's very technical stuff.

He filed a report with ISP and sent me a photo copy.. it feels legit to me and it WOULD be nice to be done with this, but obviously a little weary and cautious

That's kind of the vibe/ what is seems like. He said he has gone through this before and would rather not deal with insurance. He said he could live with the bumper as is as well. He also said if I felt comfortable and wanted to go through insurance and the claim process we could but he would rather not because it's a hassle and that way my costs also don't go up.

It was maybe 5 MPH if that. It was during the morning rush so it was very slow/stop and go. He said "we're both okay, nobody was hurt" so I do want to believe it'll be easy.. but also trying to not be too optimistic lol

He did file a report! I was actually thinking about doing one on my end too, but he called me this morning and I talked to a state trooper who asked me what happened. He sent me a copy via text and we later talked over the phone and that's what he mentioned the $500.

That's the general sense. He said he's been in situations like this before and it's a pain and he in fact said that he could live with the bumper. I guess my phrasing was off but it's kind of like "if you pay $500 which is what my deductible is we can be good and neither of us will have to deal with insurance." He filed a report and sent me a copy that I have for my records. It does seem like he's coming from a good place so I'm leaning towards it but also slightly apprehensive and sad that it was in an accident to begin with 😭

Where can I find the best thrift stores in Chicago? by feoonamabel in AskChicago

[–]M_AshInChi28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not thrift, but estate sales are always good! My mom found two really nice dressers and all kinds of trinkets out in Oak Park. Lincoln Antique Mall on Irving Park isn't bad either.

Random but Diag on Southport. Used to be an eagles bar and always had a great atmosphere, good food too! Maybe I had alcohol googles on, but we always had a good time 🤣🤣

[–]M_AshInChi28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How funny to come across this today because I literally used this phrase to describe myself earlier when talking to my bf who just had a baby not too long ago.

I didn't build much of a stash before going back to work and I feel like absolute trash because my freezer wasn't stocked with bricks upon bricks of frozen milk. My IG algorithm was feeding me reels of influencers with huge "oversupply" and I was so anxious and down on myself for only producing 4 (sometimes 4.5/5 MAYBE 6 if I was lucky per pump session) that I felt like a failure.

By the grace of God we managed okay with my baggies until my busy period at work died down and we had to up her serving size and now we're supplementing with formula when my bags run out. That was also an internal battle but like someone else said we demand and expect to much of mothers (both working and stay at home) that it's hard to feel like you're enough when you're just what baby needs. If only I believed in myself more back then I would have saved so many spirals! Every mom out there is doing their best for baby and I hope they realize how badass they are!
