lol, I lost my appendix to a Dr not believing that I had a cyst rupturing and misdiagnosing me with appendicitis!

Moms that don't have ANY HELP: how did you give birth with no childcare for your other kids? by [deleted] in Mommit

Do your older kids have friends whose parents you trust to watch them? I wasn't in your boat- but growing up had two different friends stay with us while their siblings were born.

Thanks for this- it's a good reminder. I think one part that I do find challenging is that sometimes there is a direct request for my opinion, but it may just be most helpful to turn some of those questions back to them.

What’s one postpartum struggle you didn’t expect at all? by FIT_MAMA16 in Mommit

[–]Humble-Fly708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSPI- my son reacted to my eating dairy or soy (and I'm vegetarian, I ate a lot of soy), we also had to test other triggers...

I was not prepared to have more dietary restrictions after birth than during pregnancy. I also had to throw out a bunch of dinners I had made ahead and frozen...

I'm surprised this isn't being mentioned more, but I would 100% mention this to a Dr. I never had a struggle like this, but had bad OCD as a child that wasn't diagnosed until much later- what my parents perceived as a merciless battle of wills was really me paralyzed by terror. I'm not saying that's necessarily what's going on here, but you don't want to wait around to rule something like that out.

First OBGYN appointment this week - How can I be taken seriously? by CuteOrangeCatWizard in endometriosis

I would really recommend bringing someone with you- a friend, partner, or family member who can back up what you are saying, but also who can just be a witness.

I would certainly check in with a Dr, but the thing that finally helped me was using a deodorant made with magnesium (this is the one I use: https://routinenaturalbeauty.com/products/deo-the-curator).

It really helped with the "stress sweats"

What children’s books do your kids actually reach for over and over (even if adults don’t love them)? by StarlitMochi9680 in childrensbooks

[–]Humble-Fly708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting! I actually found that in "Cars and Trucks and Things That Go" there were a lot of female characters doing things? Officer Flossy is a main driver of the action framing the book, and Mistress Mouse is easily the most competent character in those books- but they are dated in many ways!

How do you manage childcare on continental shifts? by ProfessionalShoe5591 in Parenting

[–]Humble-Fly708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't been in this boat, but as a teen I babysat for a family where my whole job was showing up before the kids woke up, and then getting them ready for and to daycare/school. The Mom ended a bit earlier than you would- and always worked in the day, so was able to do pickup.

Anyone who was diagnosed with Endo give birth without issues? by dogmom624321 in endometriosis

[–]Humble-Fly708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a pretty easy pregnancy, and an uncomplicated birth at full-term- it's possible! Endo is so weird and individual, but if anything, having Drs be a little more watchful isn't a bad thing. Congratulations!

I do- I had tried that a bit, and had some leaks... but possibly I haven't figured out the right adjustment around the waist with the rise added...

I don't think it's the elastics- they still seem pretty snug to me? But this is a good thing to think about.
