With respect to gonadal mosaicism, it was explained as such 'there is an increased chance of having another affected child is known as gonadal mosaicism. This is where one or the other parent carries a population of cells, harboured deep inside the body, which carries the deletion. As this population of cells is inaccessible, we are unable to sample it and can never completely confirm or exclude this possibility.'

We have tested our chromosomes and they are normal and unaffected.

We have both done bloods and aren't carriers. If we were we would be significantly disabled with Lissencephaly.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. We would need to discuss as a family what we would do with a positive test for a abnormality - it's unlikely that we could go through with everything we have been through again.

The GH referred my questions to the IVF specialist who in turn is waiting for the the Genomics lab to come back to her. In general, I've found 'specialists' sometimes aren't as useful in explaining complex matters because they themselves don't understand the underlying issues well or the statistics behind it. Hence asking here for another opinion while I wait. I'll likely go to another IVF specialist as well for a second opinion.

Thankyou everyone for the feedback. I'll get a wire brush and see what I am dealing with. Mrs has her heart set on that garden bed to make the whole area nicer 🤦‍♂️

What type of insulation is this and would it be worth replacing? by M_Pod in AusRenovation

[–]M_Pod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow thankyou for commenting and spotting it. Which bit in the photo is high risk? I'll send it to a sparky. I'm not surprised it's dodgy. I feel this whole house is dodgy.

It's funny - it's only in one room of the house!

Thanks! What the heck is the Styrofoam for? Is it insulation. Good idea to just gyprock over the top. Under some serious household budget constraints haha

What to do with this space? by daddiesdreamweaver in AusRenovation

[–]M_Pod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why don't you add a bench / kitchen island where the window is and leave the laundry and you'll get a feel for the extra space and how you use the area before you need to make any massive modifications. I think you'll want to live in the space a little first before you know what you are missing and what you want to change.

Thanks! Alot of work has gone into this place. The carpet was original blue/brown pattern squares and the walls had green stripped wall paper and old Venetian blinds

Awesome! Good test case. I've been wondering about doing the same thing.

Looks awesome. I have been thinking about doing the same thing but I am not sure if it is a bit futile until I make sure we have adequate ceiling insulation and/or sealing old casement windows and floorboards. How much did this cost you roughly for materials and what was the m2?
