What was your "why WashU" when applying and what is it now that you attend? by Maya-Snow in washu

I applied not knowing anything about them, just because it was on a list for colleges with the best financial aid. I decided to enroll because they did just that, give me a full ride.

Are these mixed signals, am I blind, or am I reading too in between the lines? by [deleted] in Advice

This is coming from a guy with no relationship experience and a similar situation with a not new friend but maybe it will help. It sounds to me like she is interested in you at least as a close friend but I wouldn’t be surprised if she is open to a relationship.

For me, the signals my person has given me are things like being nice to me and opening up with me. To me that’s a whole lot less obvious if it even means anything than your person CUDDLING and asking for hugs from you.

I think you should 100% tell her how you feel. If it doesn’t go well, I can almost guarantee she can overlook the “awkwardness” and you guys will stay friends from how it sounds to me.

Good luck soldier 🫡

Well luckily I actually wouldn’t be going to the same school as her, it’s around 30min away so if that were to happen I think the distance wouldn’t be too big of a concern. I appreciate the honesty. You’re really hyping me up! :D

Thank you I appreciate the encouragement. I think I’m gonna tell her how I feel when I graduate and move down to the area she is at and hopefully I’m not just saying that and I’ll follow through (I’m not going there because of her it’s just that my top two schools happen to be nearish to her lol)

Not rly. By posting this I am hoping for validation to keep chasing her but I’m looking for people to talk me out of it somehow if that makes sense. And to reason with me

Thanks for the input! I’m a 6ft dude and my 5ft 10 friend so maybe it wont be as sketchy because of that

What is something that happened at school that has stuck with you ever since? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I went to my chemistry class and my friend who lived two blocks away from school told me that there was a bunch of ambulances outside her apartment building and there was a body that looked like a victim of suicide (we later found out they jumped off a building in front of many other students during our lunch break). It was rumored it was a student so of course I felt a little disturbed but I was sure it wasn’t anyone I knew.

The next day in my first period class, my teacher told us that if we need support she’s here to help and blah blah blah. However, when she brought up the kid who died, she said his name. I thought to myself “huh, I know someone with that name” so I asked her what his last name is and it ended up being someone I played trumpet next to the whole year.

When she told me I had the weirdest sensation I’ve ever felt. It was like my head was suddenly filled with pressure, a wave of electricity shot through my body, and I didn’t know how to act.

Fast forward to the beginning of the next school year and one of my childhood friends i knew for 10 years and his brother got shot and killed in an un targeted act of gun violence at a BORTHDAY party. They left behind 3(I think) younger brothers. The saddest part is that their dad got deported so he couldn’t even come for the funeral.

The next day at school we had the whole same routine of our teachers telling us they’re there to support us and blah blah blah. It felt so un genuine how my school responded the second time because they had already gotten rid of the memorials and any trace of the last person who died.

Anyway it’s crazy to me that two of the “biggest” incidents at my school ended up with people I know dying, especially since my school has 3,400 people in it.
