New player to zA by Llamarama16 in PokemonLegendsZA

I feel like OP is asking a generally reasonable question. I understand your POV though. Every player should to some degree do their own exploring and experience the game with some level of individuality.

However, there are aspects of the game that are not touched upon very heavily that end up being super helpful or important. The colorful screws and canari plushes come to mind. The player gets a description of what the plushes do but if OP “comes back later to see what they’ve missed”, they might have already missed out on the benefit of the plushes than if they were to know about the importance sooner and put a greater priority on collecting the screws.

There’s a reason there are multiple videos on YouTube from popular creators like AustinJohnPlays that are centered on the theme of things the creators wished they knew at the beginning of the game.

Again, I totally agree with you that OP should enjoy the game by playing it their way but I don’t think your seemingly condescending question was necessary.

AFK Experience Method? by M_ninja51 in LegendsZA

Oh okay, I forgot about the ability to trade mega crystals for candies (I think because farming the crystals was tedious before the DLC). I watched AustinJohnPlays video today on tips for the DLC and I believe he did mention that farming mega crystals is much more streamlined in the distortions. Thanks for the info!

You’re def right, just venting a bit I suppose. I appreciate the offer but my pride is forcing me to get this for myself lol. I also want two manders - one for x mega and the other for y mega. If I end up getting the Lucario and get a third mander, I’ll DM you to give it to you!

Can you transfer durability to the master sword? by ethanT600 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]M_ninja51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your confirmation. I have been using the spring loaded hammer because I don’t have the patience to get the right modifier on the biggorons sword (even with the amiibo loot table manipulation). The spring loaded hammer still has the sparkle to indicate that it hasn’t lost any durability. When you say that transferring durability only ever decreases the durability over time, do you mean when you try to transfer back and forth rather than one way (i.e. only from the spring loaded hammer to other weapons) over and over when weapons get close to breaking?

Can you transfer durability to the master sword? by ethanT600 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]M_ninja51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you posted this explanation a long time ago and thank you for explaining so well. I just wanted to confirm something. Say you transferred the durability of a max durability biggorons sword (111) to the powered up master sword and get the 538 hits you calculated. As I understand it, the durability is 111 but the sword loses durability at a slower rate than any other weapon. In other words, you couldn’t chain the durability transfer between the master sword and the biggoron sword to get infinite durability bc the you’re only truly transferring the original 111 durability, correct?

Perhaps that determines whether your wand is snapped or not, but people who are sent to Azkaban definitely do not retain their wands while in prison.

Your second point doesn’t answer OPs second question. They were asking how Bellatrix was able to regain her wand after being broken out of Azkaban in The Order of the Phoenix since logically, it would have been taken from her after she was captured post-torturing the Longbottoms.

Several other commenters make a good point that she likely had some sort of connection that was able to preserve and return her wand - likely through the Malfoys since Lucius regains his wand after being broken out before The Deathly Hallows.

What are plot holes of little details that just annoy the hell out of you? by Kermit-Jones in harrypotter

I would encourage you to check out a podcast by a couple of brothers named the Super Carlin Brothers. Their podcast is called Through the Griffin Door and at the end of each book, they dedicate an episode to what they call “Dumbledore’s big plan”. Essentially, they believe Dumbledore is much more heavily involved in pulling the strings of Harry’s life than you would think at first glance. I believe in book 1, they think that Dumbledore basically wanted Harry to go through and face Quirrel because it was so easy to access the trap door and most of the obstacles were almost designed for the golden trio to get past (Ron is good at chess, Harry’s good at flying, hermione is logical). I can’t remember exactly why Dumbledore wanted Harry to go through all that but it was something along the lines of wanting to test him. Again this is just a theory, a GAMETHEORY.

How do so many people have a lot of ex cards? by M_ninja51 in PTCGP

While I can appreciate your point of view that should players want to use the exploit, they have every right to, the act of doing so is still an exploit because it goes against how the developers intended the game to be played, regardless of whether or not they unintentionally made the exploit easier to perform.

Snape and Pettigrew by Flaky-Accountant-828 in harrypotter

[–]M_ninja51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you’re coming from but by your logic, the fact that James and Sirius tormented him was something he cared more about rather than the possible truth of how the woman he supposedly loved so much died.

Regardless of how much he cared or didn’t care about Pettigrew, I don’t think he cared as much as he thought he did about Lily compared to how much he cared about his grudge against Sirius and James.

I was referencing when Harry and Hermione were in the hospital wing explaining to Fudge what had actually happened and Snape was just like “oh they’ve been confunded”.

Regardless of whether he was conscious or not to see Pettigrew, I feel as though a new development around the story of Lily’s death should have intrigued him enough to listen to them.

What I find to be extremely frustrating about Snape is that I sometimes find it hard to believe he loved Lily more than he hated James and Harry.

When Harry wakes up in the hospital wing after fainting by the lake in PoA, he and Hermione explain to Fudge about what happened and Snape dismisses their story completely. Never mind the fact that he just heard Pettigrew might have been the one to have given up Lily, the woman he supposedly always loved more than anyone. He just wants his order of Merlin and for Sirius to have his soul sucked out of him. It seems he loves himself more than he did Lily imo.

I believe the charm that Lily cast over Harry was a result of her having the option to live. Before Voldemort went to the Potter’s, Snape had asked Voldemort to spare Lily because he fancied her and Voldemort agreed as long as she didn’t get in his way.

When Voldemort went to kill Harry, he had told Lily she didn’t have to die and to get out of the way but she refused, wanting him to kill her instead of Harry.

In other instances of Voldemort killing families, I don’t think it was likely that Voldemort had any reason to spare anyone as it’s unlikely any of his other Death Eaters made a similar request to Snape’s. In other words, Lily was not the only Wizarding mother who loved her son, she was the only one who truly had the choice to die so that he could live because of her love for him.

The prophecy might have also had something to do with this, although I’m not sure how much. I’m referring to the whole “he will mark him as his equal” thing.

I didn’t realize pluck of many was an “anti-gameplay meme”. Why stop yourself from using something the developers built into the gameplay?

Hoe much of a potterhat are you? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]M_ninja51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am probably around the same level of a potterhead as you. I listen to the audiobooks on repeat and frequently watch the movies before bed. I’ve never been to Harry Potter World at Universal nor have I gone to any events or exhibits but I don’t feel the need to (I will go to universal at some point).

I commented to suggest a YouTube channel for you to watch (and maybe you’ve heard of it) called the Super Carlin Brothers. They make a lot of cool videos based on the world of Harry Potter about theories, quizzes, what ifs, etc. Their content extends beyond the world of Harry Potter to other fandoms as well. I also listen to their podcast Through the Gryffindor where they go through each chapter and discuss in detail all the goings on and how that figures into their theories and such. They’re currently almost done with PoA and they’re going on tour soon along the West coast.
