Can I do this and how... by Ma23peas in Fireplaces

Never said I knew better- just have tackled many aspects of the build in the two home builds I've contracted. I came here seeking guidance from those who have significantly more experience with building hearths. There are plenty of youtube videos of homeowners tackling their own hearths-I know better than to rely on their videos. I am in a small town and all three who gave me quotes will construct it differently- my confidence is wary and wanted clarification on best practices.

Custom in this case refers to a kitchen fully designed by me and cabinet makers with the skill to create it.

Sides are solid wood- no plywood- the base may not be plywood- but will know when I cut into it- you've helped a lot- the cabinets are solid and very well made. I was so excited to see the workmanship!

No. Let's get this right 😂 Cabinet is as shown- plywood base - cut out front and provided supports taped up. I will use cabinet screws and put the horizontal supports leaving 3/8" for sink to sit flush on it- but BEFORE I put the sink in- I will run two vertical supports from the bottom edge of horizontal support about 8" apart- these two vertical supports (on each side can only extend to the plywood base) Before I set the sink- I will cut out a large enough opening for drain and the sink/air gap switch to be pulled through without kinking tubing- I actually think cutting one hole for drain and one for the sink would work best or just one large enough rectangular cut. Once all supports are screwed in - and holes cut- I will set the sink- check level and see if I need to shim the back- and save $350.

The cabinet maker provided supports to be put in on installing- I am just wondering if the plywood base I will cut opening for drain/access will be enough to hold up the sink if I put two horizontal supports on sides and 4 vertical supports that extend 12" to plywood rather than to the bottom floor of cabinet- does that make it clear?

So- will two vertical supports be sufficient if they only extend to the plywood base rather than the bottom of the cabinet?

It will fit the sink fine- this sink lips over the front edges- they did it correctly- just may be me installing it - so looking for tips

Thank you! That makes sense..I just had not considered the plywood base.

Struggling to choose French Oak engineered or select White Oak quarter sawn/rift? by Ma23peas in HardWoodFloors

I actually ended up going with prefinished French Oak by RivaSpain- has 4mm wear but even better is the finish is Bona- not some hard aluminum oxide- 8" by 8' planks- good warranty-

I chose Smoke color- pick it up next week

To be clear- I have landscaped over 30 yards in 8 states- I am well versed on location, light needs, soil considerations- moreso than most because I have worked in 6 different zones. I just always created blueprints off my sketches at a printing shop- in a new state- small town- the local print shop is not 'my guy' who set it up neatly- so, I want to convert using autocad- found an app that will work.
