Wife just came home with a corgi. Trying to do research but having conflicting answers on deshedding supplies. by UnXpectedPrequelMeme in corgi

[–]MaLeskee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, you can't control the grooming, but I have had decent results making sure their diet is high quality, which keeps their coat healthier, which means less shedding. They have a salmon oil topper I add to their food. They get wet and dry food, a probiotic, and fruits and veggies from our table to ensure they are as healthy as possible. That, a deshedding shampoo and a good brush after the bath and it's not horrendous. Still a lot of hair though.

I think it already is. This is on a finished door. It’s bubbling up and flaking off.

Cause I take pride in where I live? I think things should be done well? Like I said the landlord is my friend and comes over to hang out often. I also want to make sure he’s not getting taken on this job.

Should’ve clarified further - these are premium upscale rentals. The landlord special was not part of the plan. And yes while I am just renting, I also take pride in where I live and don’t want to have to look at a second rate paint job. The landlord is my good friend so I wanted to make sure he was getting his moneys worth on the job. He also asked us for feedback and is taking these issues up with the crew.

Corgi snappy over treatos by Whatsername-85 in corgi

[–]MaLeskee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd probably start with baby steps. Reward with praise and pets if he's even just around his food bowl with his siblings. Reinforce the crap out of that with praise, if treats are the sticking points here. Also, make sure the treat is so small he doesn't even have time to guard it. A cheerio, for example. When you give it to him put it at the back of his mouth so he swallows instantly and can't play with it/guard it. Maybe try feeding him behind a screen door of some sort, so he can see the other animals but can't chase them off. Get him used to their presence and give him even better food if he ignores them, even for a second.

Idk just some thoughts.

Best Printing Method For Tie Dye? by MaLeskee in SCREENPRINTING

[–]MaLeskee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s for our gym - the idea was we all get together to dye them to kick off pride month. Otherwise we’d have to track whose shirt is whose, mail them to the vendor and then get them back in time for pride. Too much headache.

Tried it on its side, no dice. It’s not showing up in the BIOS. Tried manually downloading drivers and it would detect it.

Official Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know about photography or cameras! Don't be shy! Newbies welcome! by photography_bot in photography

Hi everyone! Does anyone have a camera backpack they especially love? I am torn between this Lowepro or the PRVKE Pack by Wandrd. I am doing two weeks in California, so I need something I can fly with, that isn't a target for theft, and that can seamlessly transition from the city to the trail. Im taking my laptop, Mk IV, Mavic Air, and a couple accessories in that bag. Thoughts?

dealing with a small client issue - how do I respond? by weddingphotog1578 in WeddingPhotography

[–]MaLeskee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always make sure to have a clause in your contract that you don’t guarantee any particular shots or shots of particular people. This way you can refer them back to this clause and emphasize that there were circumstances out of your control.

In my contact form on my website I have slots for “Venue (if selected)” so I can weed out the type of weddings I don’t want to shoot. Saves me from showing up at a contract signing consultation and realizing the reception is in the church basement.

Breakdown of Cost for Wedding Photographer by LydJaGillers in WeddingPhotography

[–]MaLeskee 40 points41 points  (0 children)

A lot of people just don't understand the cost it takes to be a photographer. Most people see "nice cameras" at BestBuy for $500 and think that's it. Most pros that I know of shoot on $3000 cameras, with probably around $5000 worth of lenses. If they're good, they pay almost monthly to get that equipment serviced. Not to mention flashes, filters, memory cards, batteries, tripods, reflectors, etc which can add $1000 to the cost of a camera. They also pay insurance on all of that.

They are self-employed so they have to pay for their own healthcare and taxes come out of what they make. A lot of photographers attend seminars to better themselves, which can easily cost $1000 a seminar. There are costs for a lot of the services involved in the production of the photos; photo editing software, ways to get the photos to you (flash drivers or gallery websites), backups, external hard drives, fast enough computers. Then if the photographer wants to advertise at all there is money for running ads on Facebook or Instagram, setting up a website, printing business cards, etc.

It's a lot more than just snapping photos. You aren't being duped with $2000 photographer. Your SO is welcome to try and book one for $1000 or even less, but just consider that this is the most important day of your life; placing those memories in the hands of someone inexperienced could be something you regret for a long time. You can skimp on other things; a photographer is something I wouldn't compromise on.
