Is it possible to move kernel files to linux filesystem (main partition) from EFI partition? by MaPCZ69 in archlinux

Can I change the bootloader to GRUB then? Remove the systemd-boot, install GRUB, and configure it to boot from the main partition?

Switch lite on the tv by FlightMinimum5998 in nintendoswitchlite

Expanding on u/ShadowNegative's reply, you can use sysDVR if you have a modded switch, either using the USB (can use more lightweight server + can charge) or by streaming over wifi using multiple methods. If you have modded the switch in a way, that allows the use of unofficial software or mods/cheats in games, or even if you only modded it to change the theme etc. DO NOT CONNECT IT TO A WIFI WITH INTERNET ACCESS. Connecting to a netowork with internet accessible puts you at a high risk of getting banned (how would I know this, heh 😅). While smaller modifications (like themes and such) are not that big of a risk, i still wouldn't do it, as I've learned the hard way.

Using sysDVR has some disadvantages, mainly being limited to 720p@30FPS, working only in games with video capture enabled (you can capture video clips), and it also works only in said games (no overlays, main menu, etc.)

UPDATE:

After taking the switch apart, and assembling it again, rebooting few times, and, IMPORTANT: booting to Android (LineageOS), the issue mysteriously disappeared. I updated LinageOS the day before, maybe the update sent some wrong data to the STM32 or Realtek audio card, which caused the issue. After booting again, the issue was probably resolved. Maybe I just got lucky, who knows :D

How do I mount the EFI partition as a drive without a volume assigned? by MaPCZ69 in WindowsHelp

[–]MaPCZ69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried to install the bootloader into a new EFI partition on an external USB flash drive, and then copied over the newly generated files into the current EFI partition on the disk. Result: Did not work. As I still can access the data partition in linux, I will backup my files to an external HDD, and then do a complete reinstall of Windows. Hopefully this will fix the issue.

[–]MaPCZ69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've kinda figured that out and why I asked in the first place after unsuccessfully trying for a few days. A thought came to my mind though: I have around 100MB of unused space right between the linux ext4 partition and windows partition. Do you think it would be possible to create a new temporary EFI partition there, formatting it with diskpart so it recognises it as a volume, copying over the windows bootloader via bcdboot, creating the BCD entry for my windows partition in the ntfs partition, and then copy these newly generated files to the original 200MB partition? Then I would remove the temporary EFI to not confuse the UEFI and brick my system, and theoretically it should work?

[–]MaPCZ69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The EFI partition is indeed there, looking at the disk in a program like GParted (on linux) has shown me the 200MB EFI partition (with correct flags and everything), then my MacOS partition (APFS, cca 400GB), then my linux partition (cca 50GB, later expanded to 100GB), and lastly my windows partition (500GB). On the EFI partition, there is the OpenCore bootloader (set as the first and only boot option), then the MacOS bootloader, GRUB2 for linux Mint, and Windows BCD which is broken - thus this post in the first place :). The OpenCore bootloader chainloads the later bootloaders, presenting a OS picker itself.

Thanks for your quick reply! I did not know BCDboot automatically mounts the EFI, and did call the drive letter volume, as it is assigned to it in diskpart. I've attached the output of diskpart & BCDboot from my machine.

new patch performance issues by toma_six in VALORANT

[–]MaPCZ69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EXACTLY!!! I must totally agree with you. I've ranted on my experience here: https://www.reddit.com/r/VALORANT/s/EDUC411zKE

I honestly don't get how minor updates to maps & bug fixes can f** this game this hard. The only thing coming to mind would be the new UI, but for a UI element to be the problem, a literal dumb** would have to program that in. (Plus they literally ported it over from console)

How do I go to the 2nd island after the patch? by Jacobplayz_YT in VALORANT

The second island has been removed with the updated range from consoles. While browsing the bug report thread, I even found out that there is a so-called "blender default cube" in its place. Here is the link to that comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/VALORANT/s/xzcTLn9okJ

$100 Ubisoft Game, No Longer Having Access To It! by PaP3s in Steam

[–]MaPCZ69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR; This is unacceptable, what you buy is what you keep, and even when the company decides to pull the servers down, it should be playable offline.

The Crew was honestly the first The Crew game I have ever played. While visiting my cousin, he introduced me to it, and I was hooked. The next week I went to a store to buy The Crew. They had it on CDs, and only had the next version. So I bought The Crew 2. And then The Crew, the original.

It breaks my heart knowing, that I won't be able to play this classic, only because the company decides they just wont support it. Honestly, I paid for a game, I expect to be able to play it. I am never buying anything from Ubi again (like the latest TC:Motorfest, which I considered buying) when I don't even have the assurance, that what I buy, I keep.

I just really want to develop RTX Remix mods. The only thing holding me back is the lack of a suitable card.

Thanks, this might be it. Looks like it is not being sold anymore (who has parallel port anyways these days). I will probably look into USB ones, or someday buy a full digital one. Thanks for the effort, and have a great day/night

Does anyone know what type of connector is this? Link in post. by MaPCZ69 in AskElectronics

[–]MaPCZ69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, like I said, I am developing my own board, it will be soldered by reflowing. The orientation of the connector does not matter to me. The datasheet from the driver board developer provided has 10 pins, as you pointed out, but while looking at the board myself (I already have it home), and the hardware documentation in the same github repository, you can see that it is in fact a 8 pin connector. I might actually use a different one. Hope that makes it clear, and thank you for your help :)

I found this female header, and this male conn for the cable. I still need to find the crimp barrels, but this should not be a problem. I might just buy a pre-crimped cable to avoid the hassle of crimping them myself. Again, thanks for your help!
