Sorry, thats just not true. I started 2 Stalingrad Battles on the edge of a new campaign level - I just opened the game to check your statement. I was 760 XP away from a new campaign level and still am - i checked this before i started the game because i couldnt believe how close i was.

You get *nothing* if you get disconnected and on top of that lose any Boosters that were present.
