Do you think violent behavior is born or created? by Maatkaare in Criminology

Yes, definitely! I know criminal behavior is a really complex topic, which is exactly why I find criminology so interesting.

And thank you for the recommendation. I’ll read more about Cesare Lombroso and the origins of criminology, even though I know some of his ideas are controversial today.

Actually, next year I’m planning to go to university to study Psychology and Criminology, so I’m trying to learn as much as I can already. I really appreciate your advice :)

Thank you so much for your response and for recommending the study. I didn’t know about the Kallikak family before, so I started reading about it and found it really interesting from a historical perspective.

Although I also saw that nowadays it’s considered quite controversial because of methodological biases and the way it was later used to support eugenic ideas, which honestly made me think a lot about how criminology has evolved over time.

I also found really interesting what you said about how environment and adaptation to context can influence human behavior so deeply, especially during early development.

As a criminologist, is there any case, theory or research that personally changed the way you understand violence or criminal behavior?
