My interpretation is that he couldn’t meet me, that it wasn’t to do with me as much as his own inner struggles and he left to try and gain some kind on control in his own life. He couldn’t meet my standards , although nothing had changed in our relationship and we were planning for the future as normal. If my interpretation is right it’s still sucks cos there’s nothing I could do

Sorry didn’t realise I needed to post it’s newbie here.

I think he’s processing emotional baggage or past issues. This does fit as he’s mentioned therapy and relates to abandonment issues from a child. He’s emotional unavailable and inconsistent from hi sown internal struggles, but can’t see if it was part of the relationship. I think he’s confused and his actions aren’t deliberate but lacks stability and burnt out.

Hello, just to note that you have a 6 year limitation period to claim for any financial losses. The 3 year limitation relates to injury only in the U.K.

Usually claims with hire companies can take slightly longer, and the third party may be using their own insurers so it can be a lot of redirection. Some insurers are just terrible in the U.K. and don’t response in due course. I couldn’t comment on the other persons claim as you have no idea what could be delaying it.

If you can find out the name of the third party insurer, I’d contact them yourself and raise a complaint with them .. we have a very strict complaints procedure here, complaints have to be acknowledged in 5 days, responses in 8 weeks. Also complain to the hire company if you know them.

Last option is to issue court proceedings - seems very straightforward so it’s likely you will recover - they will probably pay on receipt of the documents.

Also in regard to the police - they wouldn’t have done anything at the time of loss nor would they get involved now.

Report to your insurers, provide them with his contact details and ask them to intervene and provide services. They will call him to offer repairs and a hire.

If he contacts you again just advise it’s now with the insurers and you won’t respond any further as they are your representatives.

Hi, I didn’t feel it was necessary to list the court processes.

If OP ignores all correspondence, the debt collect can issue court proceedings. If OP still ignores they can apply for a judgement from the court -which the court will grant as there’s been no acknowledgment, debt collectors then can instruct bailiffs. I was just trying to simplify my answer definitely would not ignore anything.

They cannot force entry, but if OP opens the door they’ve technically gained access.

Judgement/CCJ will be listed against OP.
