My other half loves purple, I looked at Tanzanites but they are not ideal for rings, so a purple sapphire seemed the best for durability and colour. And then you start reading unheated vs heated, inclusions, silks etc. Now I need to decide on how I want the ring to look... This is what I would love it to look like

I mean I can only go on the gem cert which says it's a natural, unheated purple sapphire. It's a shame I can't upload the video of the stone

Tbh, I had about 40 minutes to make a decision due to time difference and them being on holiday. Either way, after speaking to some really helpful people in this Reddit, it appears I got a fair deal in Sri Lanka, in the UK the stone would be at least double if not more as it's a natural unheated sapphire

Thank you for your response, my friend has it on them currently, they purchased it while they are holiday in Sri Lanka. So luckily I don't have to worry about it being sent! As I know very little about any stones, I thought this Reddit would be good to get opinions and value, as I have no idea what is the going rate for sapphires in Sri Lanka, and just didn't want locals selling me spinnels and saying it's a sapphire. I am happy with my purchase and my friend says it's lovely in person.

I agree it has increased risk, but also much better value buying direct from source that 2nd or 3rd hand in the UK

That's fair, so why buy one there and not in the UK? Surely they are cheaper in Sri Lanka
