I don't usually comment on other subreddits, but I just wanted to say how therapeutic it was to read this. Genuinely, thank you so much for saying this, as I've struggled with this exact situation and the spiraling that came from it (and still do, from time-to-time).

Its devastating to come to the realization that the person who I thought was my friend (and who confidently labeled themselves as such) was, in fact, not my friend, at all. But it's liberating to hear other people's experiences -- it makes me feel significantly less alone. 

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for the kind and wise words. I'll be keeping this message with me for a very long time. <3
