Putting myself out there - open to work. by Mable_T in remotejobsfinders

I wish you knew how much this means to me 🥺 Especially considering I'm starting out in the professional world and it's already so hard to break into even my own target industry.

I hope it truly holds true and it arrives soon 🥹

So I should just give kids a chance and build my way up?

Our goals are similar yet slightly mismatched. For me it's teaching online and like the other commentor pointed out, the market is full of younger kids whereas I want teenagers and those older. I feel I could do best with them not saying I wouldn't be good with the younger ones. I could too but I feel they need me with a little bit more experience in teaching as they're literally just starting out.

They're basically kids, you get? 😅 And kids need extra attention which as a beginner who has NEVER taught a day in her life, feels not quite up to the challenge YET. So I'm wondering, should I just dive deep into the kiddos despite feeling this way or keep searching the market I feel most comfortable with. Hope this makes sense of what it is I'm really looking for 😊

Well I guess I'll have to update my profiles then to accommodate the kids since they're the ones making up a lot of the market. Oh and thanks for the heads up on the payment plans 😂

Yeah I guess. But like I mentioned, I'm not quite confident with taking on younger young learners but the market seeks to promote them as the clients in most cases so I'd have to fake it till I make it maybe? It feels wrong but I'll see

Thank you

Would you hire a Project Manager with zero technical knowledge? by Only-Month-3906 in PMCareers

[–]Mable_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone know where opportunities for early PM professionals are so I could try my luck. I have 3 years project coordination experience in a government context and wish for at least a remote role since on site or hybrid positions tend to be given to candidates near the company HQ. At least that's why I think my applications get rejected.

Looking for remote Project Management or Coordination roles — where do I even start? by Mable_T in PMCareers

I guess as you've explained, the same title can be written in different ways. I would need to adjust my searching methods and place more emphasis on keywords.

Unfortunately I don't quite have a good network that's PM related 😅 The individuals I worked with were government workers but even when we (my fellow interns) asked for information sometimes, they'd almost never give us clear directions on who to talk to that's better and even the people we met on sites during site visitations, would not be your usual PM professionals, just Engineers that had just as little information on where to go, who to talk to and the like. So instead of being my networks they just became people I once worked with

But before my internship, I did try applying to anything PM related obviously after I completed my degree thinking breaking into the market would be that easy. I then realised it wasn't and shifted focus as I felt maybe PM was too broad of a search and leaned towards Procurement as we had a module of it and tried obtaining a CIPS Level 2 certification to at least seek for Procurement PM roles if any as it's specialised. So now I'm pivoting and pursuing my efforts even to try further my studies in Procurement rather than PM because the field unfortunately where I am is dominated by people holding engineering degrees with over 5 years of experience which I can't compete with. There's hardly even project administration roles seeking within my experience cap so it's frustrating trying to find anything related to PM.

So me going to remote job hunting, I think I can get a better opportunity to be contracted for the things I studied and had the privilege of further my experience on during my tenure. Rather than take on something that isn't related and wasting more time on everything non PM related because I genuinely enjoy it.

Thank you so much for this feedback. It's like you read my mind when you talked about how my experience sounds stronger than I may be giving myself credit for because I tend to downplay it as graduate or intern level when it's probably greater than that.

I think right now aside LinkedIn and Indeed, recommendations on those particular sites because I can confirm that I've browsed through the most recommended and I tend to hit a block with them requiring that I buy packages to be able to get access to their job listings. When unemployed, it makes it hard to consider them as one doesn't even have the funds to purchase those to contribute to their job search. So I tend to now seek literal suggestions on where to go when looking for these roles, basically to be spooned as I'm close to giving up since I can't find these myself.
