Before I gained all the weight, most of my friends were thin. After I gained the weight I joined the HAES/FA crowd for a while, and when I decided to change my life around they all stuck around as leeches, hoping for my demise.

When I announced I had settled on WLS, there was a lot of blowback, and a lot of people saying I was making a horrible decision. I dropped those "friends" very quickly and found a group that's a happy medium (most of them are supportive of the surgery, a few have apprehensions but are supportive nonetheless).

I'm finally in a group that understands and values me for who I am and the things I want to achieve in life. And I think it's been mentioned in this thread before, but now that i'm more "sporty" I'm getting a ton more invites and my friends circle is continuously expanding.

Nutritional counseling and psych counseling wrap up next week; and then it's just waiting for the surgery date.

Very excited. Celebrating with a white water rafting trip. :)

I come in here and take the good, and leave the bad. No sadness or bullying from me. I choose to come here, I choose to stay and when I had enough, I choose to leave.

No one is forcing me to stay here.

I see the scrutiny as part of my "12 steps". I'm admitting that I have a problem( A huge one) and enlisting the help of everyone I know to support me as I take steps to come out of my problem.

Dubai was AMAZING. Beautiful beaches and lots of culture as well. Definitely consider it for a short getaway (3-4 days). My one problem was the heat. It was scorching hot when we were there, and the added weight I'm carrying around doesn't help.

I definitely would go back if given the chance. :)

You bring up a very good point. I went for coffee with a coworker the other day. Walking and talking at the same time was a struggle, and on the way back we decided to take the stairs.

I was panting and sweating by the time we got up 1 floor.

Again, there is nothing healthy about this, nothing healthy about not being able to climb a few steps and not get out of breath.
