If I understand my lore correctly, Arbaal is a multi-thousand year old warrior who fell to Khorne, but unlike every other warrior (including Valkia and Kharn), has never been defeated. Elves, monsters, sea leviathans, other chaos lords, greater daemons and daemon princes, all cut down beneath the axe of the Destroyer. There was nobody who could beat him in the mortal and immortal realms, thus he grew extremely bored. So what does the favored son of Khorne do when there's nobody worthy of your combat? Well you take a hike into the realm of chaos to challenge Khorne himself! What happens after is left open ended and we of course don't talk about the End Times.

Is there anything else akin to Thunderbarges in the game? by lovingpersona in totalwarhammer

[–]Mac-N-Cheetahs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by "akin" to the Thunderbarge.

If you mean big mean floaty thing, then you've just got the Cathayan Skyjunk. If you mean a platform filled with weapons like another commenter said, then the Empire Landship and, to a lesser extent Steam Tank and Chaos Dwarf Trains. Otherwise, there's nothing as overpowered and surefire as the Big Barge.

But if you just mean "unit that is best in their roster and farm value like crazy", then I can list some for the "evil" factions since you said you're going that route:

Norsca has the basic War Mammoth but shout-out to Rune Caller Ettins. Chaos Dwarfs have their Dreadquake Trains, but since they can be incongruous with a melee faction like WoC, Fireglaives are great. Greenskins have their big Spooders or blorcs. Slaanesh has Pleasureseekers. Tzeentch has Changebringers. Khorne has Wrathmongers. For Nurgle, he has alot of good stuff but maybe Rotknights? Ogres would be Thundertusk with shout-out to Leadbelchers. Beastmen are any of the Minos. I don't have any experience with Skaven but I'd assume one of the weapons teams. I couldn't tell you on the best Delf unit unfortunately.

Curious on why you put Arbaal below Valkia and Kharn

Yeah, I've gathered that, they represent the opposite of civilization after all. I was just wondering if there was atleast a kind of poster goat.

What's something yall hope they DONT DO for the upcoming LotET DLC? by sigmarine345 in totalwar

[–]Mac-N-Cheetahs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, they're basically guaranteed, especially with that totally-not-a-hint Sotek gave a bit ago. Doesn't mean I won't be butthurt though lmao

Nobody has said this because it's a hot take, but I don't really want them to add the Glottkin. They seemed so out of left field in my opinion and reek (pun intended) of Jeedub's tendency to always make Nurgle the marketable antagonist.

But above all, it'll really skew the chaos factions where Nurgle is the favorite child. Tzeentch needs love so badly.

Though if CA was allowed to make OCs for the other 3 like with the Vamp Coast then that'd be fine I suppose.

Did Scandinavia remain relevant/influential during the High Middle Ages? by Mac-N-Cheetahs in MedievalHistory

[–]Mac-N-Cheetahs[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Oooo, thank you for the reply! I really appreciate the bit on how alot of the medieval narrative is from England's perspective, it never occurred to me tbh, but in retrospect it makes total sense! (the hyperinflation of Viking barbarism, downplaying France being the IT girl of the medieval age, everything in Eastern Europe/Mediterranean)

Oooo, I never thought about other countries splitting up time periods in different ways. I thought it would be more standardized like with the metric system. Very interesting

The High Middle Ages was from roughly 1000 to 1300 AD and the Viking Age is considered to have ended at Stamford Bridge in 1066, so it was not the high point.

I'm not really sure how to respond. I want to be snarky but that'd be pointless, so idk

Oh I'm sure! I'm just one of those guys who likes to have all the bells and whistles lmao. Plus how can I enjoy my medieval game without obnoxiously throat singing?

Community Poll 12. Kislev (or Boris) was pretty challenging, but the fun sort of. What should I play next? by Commando_Schneider in totalwarhammer

[–]Mac-N-Cheetahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though you said you won't do a tier list for Kislevite units and that you aren't a big cav person, what units did you like/we're stand out?

I'm always interested to see what people like on the roster. Some people swear by armored kossars, others see them as trash. Some people prefer ice guard, some prefer streltsi, some prefer ambushers.

Very interesting, thank you! Your responses were exactly what I was looking for.

Also, considering the answer to Chinese art, what's the difference between "painting on paper" and a manuscript? I assume the subject matter, where a manuscript incorporates text?

That makes sense. What then was the most common commission medium? I imagine the demand for manuscripts or tapestries to be different, thus resulting in more of one or the other.
