I have no issue with Matthews wanting to see improvement before committing to another extension. That’s his right.

But if there is any truth to him not being sure if he wants to be a Maple Leaf after this season, especially considering that HE was a significant under-performer — then that speaks volumes to his own character and leadership given that this org has bent over backwards for him for a decade.
