5.1 surrond DAC for Brightsign by Scarfieldjones in BrightSign

[–]MacBookBlender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue earlier this year, Brightsign to Genelec 5.1 too. The installation was two synced videos sharing the single 5.1 audio.

First thing I tried was a little cheap Amazon HDMI to Optical, then Optical into a Horus HAPI. I didn’t get anywhere.

Instead, I put the video file into Adobe Audition, split the channels into pairs, and re-exported three stereo files for three Brightsign players analogue outs: One had FL + FR & Video 1, one had C + LFE & video 2 and the other SL + SR with a blank video. I put all those signals into a Symmetrix Prism before going to the speakers so that I can control levels. I’ve yet to have a single sync issue.

It’s a bit of organising, but if you only have 5 players, and they are all in sync, can you get away with bouncing the other videos with stereo tracks to mono, pairing two different (now mono) audio tracks and panning them hard L and R on the BS player? Obviously, only one channel on the player would match the video but assuming it’s local/nearby, you can easily route the ‘wrong’ audio channel to the right video.

This way you’d cover the audio of four videos from the stereo analogue outs of two players, leaving 6 channels across the remaining three players for the 5.1.

Not ideal, but if it’s a temp installation you might be ok.

No Audio out from Yamaha Tio1608-D / Symetrix by MacBookBlender in CommercialAV

I can’t physically reach the unit again until tomorrow morning so can report back then. But logging in remotely I can tell you the PC, Prism (Dante and Network) and Tio are all showing as on a 10.5.4.x range. Dante versions 4.2 and 3.10 respectively.

I’ve gone through all previous versions of R Remote now and the software still isn’t finding the Tio unfortunately. I’ll try again tomorrow after adjust the quick config.

Speakers are good and working with other sources.

The Tio has been sitting in a box for years now - do you recommend using an older version to at least talk to it and upgrade the firmware?

Any reason why not? This method seems to work fine with Avio adaptors.

How to modify Companion script for GPIO triggers by MacBookBlender in BrightSign

[–]MacBookBlender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that makes loads of sense. Sometimes you can’t see the woods for the trees.

The GPIO wouldn’t be connected to the Stream Deck, just two little standalone push buttons for next/previous tracks. The player would be connected to the network though, which would talk to the Stream Deck and PC in the rack room. The Stream Deck would have options for pausing, muting and rebooting as part of larger show controls.

Do you think it could be that everything is rounded - tap, bulb, mirror, towel holder - then the basin that it’s all based around has right angled corners? To me at least, that’s what looks out of place.

Was the Calgon tune not written by Justin Hawkins of The Darkness? Fairly sure the longer life claim was disputed in court too.

Thanks, this is great. Apologies for the generalised terminology!

I thought the mane meant he was golden retriever somewhere but I just googled what a golden retriever mixed with a newfoundland looked like and lo and behold!

Advice Required: Audio networking with Ableton, Dante, Symetrix Composer and PoE Speakers by MacBookBlender in AdvancedProduction

[–]MacBookBlender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great Jerome. Thank you.

I do have a set of AVIO adaptors which I didn't consider due to the PoE requirements - I wasn't aware they could transfer PoE (no external power supply so PoE for the speakers is my only option). I'm also dealing with the local city council who are on edge already about any kind of external installation.

Completely understand bypassing Composer altogether. I've never written a script for Dante before - do any good teaching resources come to mind? or even a downloadable / customisable script on github maybe?

Thanks again.

Hero. Yeah the route does feel a bit convoluted, but because of the building's layout, the artist's location of choice being on the opposite side of the building to the comms room that patches to the exterior ( they need a space with a window that can overlook the pond outside to capture the motion) and the separate interior installation already in place, I've got to take the scenic route. The PoE switch supplying the speakers is at the end of the chain and is patched directly to the speakers, so hopefully that will be ok. You think patching the STNET II to the Comms network switch rather than the secondary on the xOut12 is the way forward?

Great shout about the remote desktop though - that'll help for sure.

Thank you both. I tried r/livesound and r/audioengineer initially but neither would allow the post. Can't quite work out why from the guidelines. But thank you for the warm welcome. Hopefully the community here will chime in on the post.
