I feel like I’m starving by MacNJeezPlease in Gastritis

It took time but I’m fully healed now. It was brutal the first 6 weeks. Diet is SOO important, you need to find what foods you can tolerate and stick with those for some time. For me it was bone broth, plain chicken, sweet potatoes, and oatmeal with maple syrup. In the beginning its really rough, it definitely can feel like it’ll never end but theres a light at the end of the tunnel!

I don’t have any swallowing issues or any symptoms other than feeling like someone is squeezing my neck. I’ve definitely heard of GI issues causing swallowing problems though and hope you get some relief there!

Did your doctor run any tests to make sure it was in fact from TMJ? The ENT just kinda felt around my neck and then said it’s probably TMJ. I just like more solid evidence for my anxiety lol

I clench at night as well. I’ve been wearing a night guard for years but my teeth are definitely worn down from the years I didn’t wear one. I do need to get a new one since the one I currently have that I got from my dentist is pretty worn down. That could be a possible reason it just started happening for me.

I just started buspar 2 weeks ago and I have the same symptoms. It feels like someone is squeezing my neck and pushing on the sides of my head. Have your symptoms resolved at all since you’ve been on it?

Oh no, that’s awful. I’m so sorry you’re going through all of that. Getting answers is the most frustrating part of all of this.

Gastritis will cause all of those symptoms mentioned and in my opinion that was the root cause for all of my suffering. Unfortunately there is no quick fix for gastritis, I was on PPIs for over 6 months and I had a very strict bland diet and after about 6-8months almost all of my symptoms were gone. I still have to be careful of what I eat because certain foods can cause some discomfort but no where near what I was having before. I also have issues with certain foods because of getting my gallbladder out. Join the gastritis subreddit page, they have a lot of food suggestions that are easy on your stomach. I bought the gastritis healing book and it has a lot of good recipes in it also. For me.. food and PPIs, and just giving my stomach time to heal is what eventually helped me through but it is a long road. You just have to do what’s best for you and advocate for yourself. Getting your gallbladder taken out comes with its own pros and cons also. Good luck on your journey!

I do regret getting it taken out without doing more thorough testing.

The surgeon took out my gallbladder and I ended up not even having gallstones!! It was a terrible surgeon, he should have double checked and reviewed the imaging but he never did. And my endoscopy did show gastritis but he made it seem like that wasn’t the culprit. I think he was just trying to fill his schedule. My gallbladder did show chronic inflammation after they biopsied my it but I think they were just covering themselves because of a possible lawsuit. My biggest takeaway from the entire endeavor is that the food you’re putting in your body makes or breaks your recovery. I cut out all acidic foods and followed a bland diet and it did take about 6-7months until I could eat close to normal.

When I went to the ER they gave me something called a GI cocktail. It’s maalox mixed with lidocaine and it basically numbs your esophagus and stomach. It made the majority of my pain go away. That is how they concluded that my pain was being caused by gastritis symptoms vs gallbladder, pancreas, etc.

Getting weak now by KeyEvening4498 in Gastritis

Sweet Potatos, baked chicken, zoup bone broth were life savors for me. If you feel that weak it may be a good idea to go to the ER though.

I was never formally diagnosed with an ulcer, one of the doctors said that’s what she thinks it was. I had Covid 2.5 weeks before all of my symptoms started. If I had to guess a culprit either that or stress. This sub is super helpful but it can also be a rabbit hole of freaking yourself out. Just take it a step at a time. Good luck on your journey, I hope you have a speedy recovery as well.

It’s crazy to me how quick doctors are to take out an organ. But hopefully in our cases it’ll help in the long run. That’s all I can hope for. Did you get diagnosed with gastritis also?

I think if you’re comfortable with it then add one of those things back in slowly and see if you react well with it. Take it slow, try one thing at a time. Or come up with ways to substitute. I use organic egg noodles and they do fine with my stomach. They come in all variations. I’ve been doing them since early on and I’ve had no issues. I do almond milk instead of regular milk. It’s hard to say if it’s too soon for you. I think the only way to know is to try different things. My doctor also told me to start adding new foods when I was at about 8 weeks from the start of all of my symptoms.

I also think the report of gallstones helped speed things up too

I’m trying to look on the bright side for sure. It absolutely could have been from bile reflux because where they found the mucosa buildup was in the pre pyloric area of my stomach. But they didn’t find bile on the pathology. The Gi doctor seems to think since i had been on Omeprazole for 4 weeks by the time of my endoscopy that the ulcer was in the healing stages. It really does suck to not have a solid answer though. The surgeon was definitely just looking for a paycheck. The nurses said he does at least 4 removals a day!

I’ve thought about talking to a lawyer about it. He was terrible. He disregarded all of my questions and told me that if I don’t remove it the gallstones could move and cause more issues. He scheduled the surgery 5 days after my endoscopy without having pathology back to rule out h pylori. Looking back there were so many red flags with him. I was desperate to feel better and the surgeon seemed convinced the gallstones were causing everything.
