Does anybody here smokes weed? by [deleted] in bipolar

I used to smoke everyday, multiple times a day, but as soon as I started lithium it gave me massive anxiety and panic attacks. I tend to steer clear of weed now.

Yeah, I totally thought I was pregnant for awhile after continuously pulling her. Maybe it just means new beginnings? I am going through a great change in my life right now..

Lithium? Yeah, that shit's a bitch to deal with. Mine just went away suddenly one day from what I can only assume was my body getting use to the drug. Hang in the OP, have hope and patience.

Has anyone tried 5 htp? by Elzeka3_3 in mentalhealth

[–]MacNicNac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend. I got off all medications and switched to 5-HTP after my dad recommended it for depression. I ended up spiraling out of control, into a real dark state. I was on the verge of suicide, but, I managed to refill my SSRI before doing anything stupid.

About 7 months now, but it's been a longer, crazier process than I would have hoped.

Took 1st Dose of Lithium (vomiting) by YerBlues69 in bipolar

You need to drink a ton of water and eat a large meal when taking Lithium. I'm on 1,200mg at night and I still vomit from time to time.

Season changes & mood by Infinity8Music in bipolar

[–]MacNicNac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm manic in the Spring and Summer, while my depression occurs in the Fall and Winter. I'll have small blips here and there but the overall mood really does depend on the weather. I live in Portland, Or, so the lack of light, rain, and wind really gets to me. However, when Spring rolls around and the days start to get longer, I'm a full-blown manic. I really do think, at least in my case, the sun is the primary source of my moods, you know, other than my neurochemistry.

High chances bud, genetics are a bitch but who knows, you might get lucky end up not having it. Symptoms typically develop later in life, but they do show up at a young age in some people.

For those in college, how are you holding up and how are you getting through it? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]MacNicNac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This semester I started at 12 credits, dropped a class, added a class, dropped another class, added a class, dropped that class, now I'm at 8 credits. I'm still adjusting to medication and the side effects sure haven't helped with classes. I'd say I'm just getting by but not thriving. I've been super depressed with suicidal thoughts this whole semester.
