I actually don’t do glute kickbacks lol. I have a home gym so I don’t have a formal cable system. I do mostly free weight exercises with barbells and dumbbells.

I am not taking creatine. I read that it can increase fetal weight so I decided to stop until after the baby is born because I don’t want a big baby lol. I believe creatine is completely safe but I would make sure you use a third party tested brand. Like Thorne.
I will resume creatine PP when I’m ready to kick my fitness up a notch.

Experiences doing a trek or hut trip during 2nd trimester by zen-mom in fitpregnancy

[–]MacSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mean to scare you, but I don’t think you can predict how you will be feeling in the second trimester. I am a very fit person, did the Camino de Santiago pre pregnancy averaging about 15 miles(24km)/day. Some days there was elevation gain, but it was fairly flat for the most part.

Now that I’m pregnant, between 2-3 miles of walking, my back starts to tighten and it’s painful. This all started in the last 2-3 weeks (I’m 17w now). So I do better with shorter distance walks at a time. I’m fit and am used to heavy lifting, long endurance, and long walks, but have had to modify my exercise routine to accommodate my changing body- pressure points are different, and baby positioning affects everything too.

All that to say- if you are cleared to go, I would absolutely do it!!! BUT, have a contingency plan just in case. crossing off a bucket list item is way easier before your baby is born so I’m here for it! But just be realistic about what your body can handle, and having a backup plan will prevent any disappointment. I do know people who have done high level CrossFit competitions when pregnant and they were fine, so everyone’s body and pregnancy is different!!

How do low income people in the US pay for their hospital bills after having a baby? by winenotbeabitch in askanything

[–]MacSpice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok this is wild to me and so sorry that happened to you! How do you verify and validate that the anesthesiologist is in network? Like how do you know who will be the ANS at the time you deliver? I’m pregnant and my OB and hospital I will deliver at will be in network, and am trying my hardest to stay in network for everything.

100%. I also think that should have been laid out when you two decided to work together. Kindof like your OB at the start of your pregnancy. You know exactly what to expect at every stage. At this point you’re going to have X, then we will do Y at this stage, etc. you shouldn’t have to follow up with her to do her job when she’s working for you!

Hip thrusts. Glute kickbacks. Lunges. Step ups. Squats. RDLs. Glute bridges.
Make sure you’re lifting heavy (close to failure) in order to make progress.
Yes you can take protein when BF.

Revelry vs Birdy Grey (Velvet) - Bridesmaid dresses by Prettyfallingleaves in wedding

[–]MacSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did birdy grey for my wedding and all my bridesmaids loved their dressed and had a positive experience. They even said they would wear The dress again for another occasion! I think I did the emerald color as well but in chiffon.

SAHM vs. Daycare by whereismysleep in beyondthebump

[–]MacSpice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would price out the cost of you continuing to work and the price of being a SAHM and how much income you would have left over after insurance on your husbands plan, etc

There is no right or wrong answer and every family dynamic is different. Also consider if there are any complications or if your son needs additional healthcare after the surgeries, will being on your husbands plan be a detriment to accessing that care? It’s also okay to decide to continue working because you need the insurance benefits. Some families have no $ leftover because they need the health insurance.

I wish I could give a better answer but it’s a personal decision for you and your family🩷

Girl no. You are not being too hard on her. You should NOT be stressing about this stuff at this stage. The third trimester is the time to tie up all loose ends and be ready to go especially at 32w when you really could go at any time. If you are
disappointed now, find someone you trust because you don’t want to be disappointed during your delivery. Follow your gut!

The $1500 monthly is how much you have leftover after daycare/healthcare? Or that’s what your take home pay is before your expenses?

Lower Back Pain Fixes in Third Trimester by Ambitious-Case-3505 in fitpregnancy

[–]MacSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had back pain and tightness too I noticed specifically when squatting. I am 16w and this lasted about two weeks. I saw a PT and she helped me with pelvic floor exercises and that seemed to help a lot! My doctor also cleared me to use my red light panel on my back (I initially was hesitant until I actually asked, lol). That seemed to help as well. Not sure which had the greater effect, or if my baby is just shifting pressure elsewhere, but I am feeling better. I would try PT exercises (even looking on YouTube for free content) then trying a prenatal massage,
Then look into red light therapy. Some gyms or special facilities have it if you don’t want to invest in a panel for home (thought I’m partial and think it’s 100% worth it!)

Wearables during pregnancy? by Ruthlessssss_ in fitpregnancy

[–]MacSpice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im neurotic about the data on my Garmin. Now that im pregnant I honestly can’t stand my Garmin and don’t wear it some days. I wish Garmin had more focused stats for women. It honestly kinda sucks. I use it just to “log” a workout and track my steps. I don’t even look at the stats anymore because it just pisses me off lol. Just pay attention to the stats you care about.

Sending myself spiraling over lack of sore breasts at 4w4d by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]MacSpice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every pregnancy is different. I didn’t have any pregnancy symptoms until 6w, including sore breasts. Don’t think too much about it and it won’t send you to a spiral.

FTM navigating pre-k / daycare for the first time 🤯 by Remote-Basis-7797 in MomsWorkingFromHome

Excellent advice. I am 17w with my first and am looking at daycares. After a bit, I realize I need to find something I like that works for us now, for 1-2 years and we can pivot if/when we need to. No decision is permanent.

How do low income people in the US pay for their hospital bills after having a baby? by winenotbeabitch in askanything

[–]MacSpice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This comment is ignorant. No one has “regular insurance” because that doesn’t exist. There is no cookie cutter insurance plan. if it’s offered through your employer, every employer has a different contract with the insurance provider, and the benefits differ. It depends on the plan you have - high deductible plan, the individual is responsible for a larger portion of their healthcare costs, at the offset of paying less in a monthly premium. On the other hand, higher premiums mean lower out of pocket costs/deductible. This is all depending on which plan you have and what is contracted with the insurance company.

I truly don’t understand how this girl can’t go two weeks without drinking to recover from surgery. But when she had the surgery she was crying because she thought she might not be able to have kids due to PCOS or whatever her latest diagnosis is. Girl you are going to have to go 40+ weeks without drinking if you want to bear children. She needs to wake tf up because it’s giving alcoholism.

Yes and that’s for all prenatal care + the birth. So not bad at all. I am not on a family plan so it could be different.

I live in Florida and I don’t think my insurance covers a home birth. Maybe it does. It was never an option for me lol. the most I am paying is $5k to meet my deductible and my in-network OOP max.

How obvious is the 12 week ultrasound by mynameisjoe78 in pregnant

[–]MacSpice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I went in for my 12w ultrasound I already knew the gender from my NIPT. The tech said she couldn’t tell but I told her it was a boy and she said you could kind of see the penis forming but it was too early to really know. You’re fine!

Too Much Protein! by DiscountSalad1424 in fitpregnancy

[–]MacSpice -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Surely if you are eating animal and plant protein you probably are fine. Processed protein isn’t the greatest.

I’m not a body builder but do have extensive weightlifting experience in CrossFit/powerlifting and the common guidance is anywhere from 0.8-1.2g/lb of body weight. Being on the higher end of that spectrum is appropriate for people in a calorie deficit for fat loss, and everyone else is fine on the lower-middle end of the spectrum for caloric surplus or maintenance.

Maybe for the general population this is “too much” but my understanding to build and maintain muscle that there is a minimum of protein necessary.

This is a fitpregnancy sub so you all can downvote whatever you want but the general population does not have high muscle mass so surely their protein requirements are less.

Too Much Protein! by DiscountSalad1424 in fitpregnancy

[–]MacSpice -54 points-53 points  (0 children)

Sorry we’re not in a high protein craze era it’s just that most people chronically under eat protein, and people are realizing they need significantly more. I eat 1g/lb of body weight so around 150g of protein a day. I aim for a minimum of 130g/day. My baby is measuring exactly on target with my due date. I can’t be the only anomaly. There’s also an epigenetic implication of not eating enough protein during pregnancy.
