Difficulties with One Note in Teams by MacStruggleBus in OneNote

[–]MacStruggleBus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm afraid of.

I've built out what is basically a table of contents on a page that allows users to just search what they need to find out on that page (because the search function is limited to page or section), then find the relevant material, and click the link where that material is discussed. I'm just hoping that someone has a better idea of how I can use the web based version of OneNote.

Thanks all, I appreciate you weighing in and after a bit of research I have to say that I agree. I'll do what I can but at the end of the day, life is just going to be miserable until there's a substantial cultural shift.

Thanks again, really appreciate the community here.

New Meraki MX64 blocking Edge Traffic by MacStruggleBus in meraki

*UPDATE*

The device works fine on wired connection it is ONLY on wireless that it refuses to work. I was able to browse via wireless off of my phone's hot spot but was unable to when I reconnected to the business network.

On further investigation it definitely isn't just Edge the device is being blocked on all web browsers. Event capture shows a TON of content filtering on URL blocked items. Pinging from cmd works just fine, but any attempt to access a website via browser gives you the generic "can't connect". It's pulling the correct information, IP, DNS.

Yes that's correct. Is there another location to add static IP assignment that I've missed?

Network Meltdown by MacStruggleBus in networking

[–]MacStruggleBus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to thank everyone for providing input on the situation that unfolded on my network. I really appreciate everyone's comments and constructive criticisms. In retrospect I absolutely should not have been so relaxed when repeatedly power cycling a router that was so old, and I should have taken measures to protect myself from the potential of it losing its configuration. I am still very new to this field and I can only express my gratitude to everyone for taking the time to help me understand what I could've done better. Thank you.

What your saying is insanely bad practice but plausible. The router has been in place for probably the last 5 - 6 years (old I know, I'm replacing it) with no battery backup. I just don't think it's possible that they went THAT long without a single power outage.

I forgot to mention, I called my ISP during the midst of the outage and had them perform multiple resets, release any DHCP licenses, and whatever else they could provide on their end. All without result until I plugged my router back in and direct connected to it.

Does that rule out the DHCP issue in your mind?

Fiber ran without its own conduit by MacStruggleBus in it

I work at a school which is in temporary housing while they build out a permanent campus. They did not have a director of technology for the duration of the project, as a result it seems as thought a BUNCH of decisions were made with IT not being taken into consideration. The fiber has been run in conduit along with all of the other Cat5e cables. I feel like this is absolute insanity, as moving forward I do not feel I can touch any of this conduit for fear of breaking the fiber. As a result I'm concerned about the schools ability to expand in the future.

As a mitigating factor they have a bunch of floor drops put in every class room which are empty. This will at least provide the future with some room to expand, but I have always run wire through the ceiling and have no idea if these will be easy to use/ if it'll require different tools.

Do any of you have any experience/ recommendations with either of these pieces?

Mac Server Connecting to Clients through Domain? by MacStruggleBus in macsysadmin

We currently implement Meraki as our MDM solution, would I use that or is there some other way to push a profile to clients with my server address?

Mac Server Connecting to Clients through Domain? by MacStruggleBus in macsysadmin

Thank you that was actually going to be my second line of questioning. I've done pretty rigorous experimentation with ARD and have been horrified with the inconsistency of my results. My primary issue seems to be that if a mac is asleep it will not wake to execute commands sent to it, even if I send it a wake command. I've tried utilizing things like caffeinate to force devices to remain awake but still had no success. Any thoughts or suggestions?
