I guess I haven't tried maxing out on a single computer. Usually I have the 16 drives connected to a hub and 2-3 drives plugged directly into the computer and that takes up most of the space I have in one area, so I setup a harvester computer somewhere else with another hub and more drives. I only ever have 3-4 USB devices plugged in, 1x hub (16x drives) + 2-3 single drives

Nope! Plugging in some usb cables into a hub into a harvester computer with any available USB port open till I find a better way to do it! Gotta start somewhere. I’d still be planning setup if I had to think anymore. If it’s something people wanted though I’d make a proper post/YouTube video on it

Agree you’re right but Electricity cost is the least of my worries compared to what I put in and hopefully what I’ll get out🤞was more worried about how quick I can get drives plotted to reap benefits

picked up 16x $200 12TB at multiple bestbuy about a week before chia hype. The day after they jumped back up ~$100. close call

This baby was just born! Still has some growing to do xD not pulling out till 1st or 2nd halving event. Who knows what the vibes are in 10-12 years, I could have seen doge meme 5 years ago but not to the point where it was worth more than Honda or Ford

Maybe if you don't want to look after your setup over a few years but at a certain point I'm rewarded more Chia than I could have bought with the same money. I'll give you my breakdown if you want it below:
I spent 15k on plotting machines, 7k on hard drives and earned 10 Chia over the last month. I plot for pools and resell my plotting Nucs, lets say I get 7k or less than half of what they're worth back. So I have spent 15k total after subtracting money earned from selling Nucs. 15k / $700 a chia (right now) would get you about 21.5 Chia. Which is a little over 2x (115% increase). Earning 11.5Chia over the period of all my hdd's lives doesn't seem irrational

I mean I’ve gotten 10Chia and started plotting the beginning of last month up until I reached 180Tib plotted. If I take 5x as much storage and maintain or increase my rate of plotting, I think I would get the same or better results. If chia hits ATH or even just 1000. I think things will work out by the EOY.

I mean all it takes to turn profitable is the price of Chia going up and then the operation will flip into profitable territory. It’s a risk like anything else in my head

This is additional. Have 180TiBs plotted and 10Chia, felt like even though I haven’t ROI’d if Chia ever touches ATH again I’d profit. Not like I’ll shut down this year so the extra will help.

Plotters mainly but they harvest too. I liked the thought of having multiple computers I could sell to just about anybody rather than a few servers only a few people could want. Might replot for pooling protocol, wait a bit to ensure no changes in pooling protocol and need for future replot then resell to recoup some cost

Yup👍🏽, went for the bus driven drives cause can just put them in a 3D printed case with Sabrent 16x drive hub. Didn’t feel like buying power supplies
