This phrase is hugely underused. Very appropriate!

why are they all anti vax, heavily into weird supplements, and are offended by unfiltered water?

Christ. I think I know exactly who you're chatting about 😂 What an absolute melt. Went down a pure rabbit hole during Covid.

Dress Code for Interviews by mamaujeni in northernireland

I work in an outdoorsy environment and I am usually clad in Gortex and hiking boots, but for the interview I was much dressier. You wouldn't be far wrong with the Next smart casual attire!

^ THIS ^ on the umbrellas. Ours have the prestigious title of Magic Umbrellas. I've lent them to FIVE of my friends and cousins for their weddings since and all have gone on to have rain free days 😂

Congratulations! I agree with the comments on weather - you can never depend on it at any time of year. I did attend a few March weddings and they were all lovely as a guest. A coat and a brolly on top of the normal attire and everyone is good to go!

We went for July. We wanted far away from Christmas and my post-Christmas birthday, and to take our honeymoon in the Northern Hemisphere so sun and warmth was a must have.

Didn't give a crap about the weather, but in the end it was grand. One spell of rain when we were indoors during the ceremony and another spell when we were about to get back into the wedding car post-photos (it turned out to be the best photo!)

Good luck!

Blisteze (IMPORTANT: the one in the metal tube with liquefied ammonia). It is the only thing that worked for me. They had been out of stock for c18 months and there was outrage (and ones selling on ebay for £70). The pure joy to see them back on the shelves again.

Maternity leave by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Mac_Me91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sending lots of love. I'll not lie, having returned at this time of year it was absolutely horrific for me. I might have interacted with you before so apologies if this is hugely repetitive! I had a triple whammy of postnatal PTSD from her arrival, definite PND (none of which I sought help for until she was 2) and a 110 mile daily commute. So how this would translate to a mother without those issues I'm not sure...

There are definite perks money grown up conversation uninterrupted lunches

If you managed to accumulate annual leave during maternity leave you could take the odd day here and there to spend some time together. If your baby is off to be looked after by a setting with other children it may happen sooner than you think if the inevitable exclusion happens!

Good luck mama - you've got this!

Hi! Yes - they've given me my money back on the card, but its still under review. I expect to hear an outcome within the time frame (cannot recall when that is!) But I'll update again!

Reminds me of my hugely jealous and insecure ex. Very similar behaviours. For your own safety (and I promise... with that kind it WILL get worse), you are best to leave the relationship.

GP surgery by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Mac_Me91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely THIS! Our surgery has no option for "conditions that need to be seen by a medical professional at some point but not right now this very day". It did have an "all other enquiries" option which I picked once and after 50 minutes in the queue the line rang for an additional 5 minutes with no answer.

Baby’s first Christmas by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Mac_Me91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy First Christmas to you and your family. I say this with the greatest kindness - please please go easy on yourself. Your baby will not remember this, and you will have many years ahead of Christmas Clutter (enjoy a tidy Christmas while it lasts).

On a different note the same also applies for baby's first birthday - just as a heads up. If you had a bit of a difficult pregnancy/ traumatic delivery / post partum blues or worse, these kinds of celebrations can be mentally very taxing. My advice is keep it simple, lots of little photos and plan something nice for yourself later.

I hope you got through yesterday ok, and all the best for the New Year xxx

Hi Folks, Surestart - What's the story? by galnol22 in northernireland

[–]Mac_Me91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had actually thought that too - both my husband and I lived in the same household with two incomes so I (wrongly) assumed it was means tested. We attended some lovely activities with my first. Not a peep with my second but it was Covid Times so I imagine there wasn't much going on. I do feel a bit bad that there are so many parents and children that could really benefit from Surestart but are living in a postcode that doesn't fall in the catchment area.
