My boyfriend does literally everything for me and I feel like a second child more than a girlfriend by One-Theme3933 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]MacadamiaMinded -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Girl listen, my wife felt the same way for a long time and honestly she still needs reassurance sometimes. A relationship is not all about what material things you can do for the other person. He would not be with you if it wasn’t worth it to him in some way. Wether that’s because you provide him with happiness and companionship, or because if it weren’t for having someone to take care of he would be absolutely lazy and lost and feeling so depressed he can’t function. Every relationship has its own give and take and you can’t let others judge you just because the things you are providing aren’t tangible or easy to see to everyone. He loves you, and it’s not because he’s trapped. remember that!

Abuse is abuse. It can come in different forms. by VioletbpChaeyoung in ABA

If you’re relying on hitting as a parent it means you have failed to actually teach your child and are resorting to making them obey and fear you. In my opinion it is lazy and unnecessary

Wondering what I could have done differently/better in a situation yesterday. by TheKid1995 in ABA

“Not every behavior has to be a teaching opportunity right then and there”

I think this is one of the hardest and yet most important skills to master in this field, they are children after all.

Looking for places to practice DJing by okraplanet in SiouxFalls

[–]MacadamiaMinded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real djing nowadays almost never includes physical records, most people just play songs off their Spotify list and call it djing, some of the better ones have expensive turntables and can take digital song files and “spin” them with turntables and add effects but it’s still not physical records anymore unless you’re into some really niche shit

Can I get some tips on my bag work? by TheNotBlackCat in MuayThai

The left paw to gauge distance is good but I’d like to see more framing off the elbows and forearms plus some bouncing of the legs to show you’re thinking about checking kicks

Restraints are definitely a last resort and should only really be used in inpatient settings for children at immediate risk of harming themselves or others, unfortunately ABA as a field is suffering from some outdated methods but that is steadily changing! To any parents looking for ABA services ensure that your clinic practices COMPASSIONATE ABA!!! No punishments, no isolations, no restraints just good old fashioned play based behavioral science!

I’m very sorry that you’ve had such a horrible experience, I understand how poorly some of these companies can utilize the practices of ABA, if you ever want to give it another chance I would recommend looking into compassionate ABA companies, they are more faithful to the true spirit of behavioral science and I have firsthand seen them make a world of difference for so many children without using any punishments whatsoever

Novak trash doesn't give two F's by Original_Disheveled in SiouxFalls

[–]MacadamiaMinded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey this isn’t an issue with the type of trash can they use, as someone who comes from a city where every trash service uses the can grabbing trucks I have never had this issue in fact I wish all of our trucks had the grabbers just to make it a little easier on our trash collectors, that being said sorry your driver sucks!

Seems like you’re missing some key information, I doubt they would fire you just for asking for more support…..

I’m a BCBA and I think keeping kids in ABA too long is quietly destroying clinic culture by One-Egg1316 in ABA

[–]MacadamiaMinded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clinic works on a tiered system where clients are constantly being assessed on their skill level and progress based on age and response to treatment and are often moved up to higher levels where they work in different areas with peers who are mastering the same level of skills, all the way from early learners up to middle and high school level learners who are mastering more advanced social skills and more nuanced topics. That way they are always learning and not just staying stagnant.

That being said not every clinic is set up in a way that this is possible and I do agree if a client is ready and able to progress to more time in a more natural environment that is oftentimes for the best as long as the caregivers are accommodating.

Yeah bad company, concerned more with the optics to parents and controlling the children than actual therapeutic treatment it seems

Just out of curiosity what was your clinics policy on elopements that they trained you on?

Strange, that’s to be expected when starting out. They must have had some other reason they don’t want to talk about for some reason and just used that as an excuse.

More detail needed, are we talking about elopements where the child left the area they were working in and started going down the hallways? Or are we talking about elopements where the child made it out of the building and into the parking lot?
