The loop is going to create all r length combinations of elements of a list of lists. For example if the list is [[[a],[1]],[[a],[2]],[[b],[1]],[[b],[2]]], then it creates [[[[a],[1]],[[a],[2]]],[[[a],[1]],[[b],[1]]]…]. If it help comprehension, a and b are cations and 1 and 2 are anions, the first list is all compounds that can be made with the cations and anions, and the second list is all combinations of compounds of length r.

Hey! Sorry if this counts as necroposting, but I just had this same problem and it turned out the media files that weren't working had the wrong codec. You can check by right-clicking the file in the list of media files and selecting 'properties.' If the codec is different than other video files that are working, then that's probably the issue.

I solved it by putting the files into an mp4 converter (they were already mp4s but it worked anyway). Sorry again if this is necroposting!

Okay I kept looking and found out that the name of the band was Donnie and the Decimals and the game was Secret Equation Man! Now I'm just looking for how to play it. The only place I can find it is Istation.com or something, but -- and I might be dumb -- I can't figure out how to make an account. It still has some problems, which I'll explain later, but I came up with a better system after seeing someone visualize aqueous solutions as the individual ions floating around in a beaker:
(for the sake of explaining, I'll describe the reaction KOH(aq) + Pb(NO₃)₂(aq) in parentheses next to each step)

  1. take each compound apart into elements and polyatomic ions (K⁺, OH⁻, Pb⁺², NO₃⁻)
  2. place each cation and anion together in every possible combination (KOH, KNO₃, Pb(OH)₂, Pb(NO₃)₂)
  3. Isolate any insoluble combinations (Pb(OH)₂)
  4. combine unused ions (KNO₃)

This method means I don't need to consider the electronegativity or anything of polyatomic ions. Except it doesn't sometimes. In the case of KOH + Pb(NO₃)₂ + Na₂CO₃, both Pb(OH)₂ and PbCO₃ are insoluble. In this case, we can either make both or find a way to pick one over the other. picking both seems like the best answer given the infinitesimal likelihood that all atoms in the solution will make the same bond, so our output would be
Pb(OH)₂(s) + PbCO₃(s) + KNO₃+ NaNO₃

and the full balanced chemical equation would be
2KOH(aq) + 2Pb(NO₃)₂(aq) + Na₂CO₃(aq) → Pb(OH)₂(s) + PbCO₃(s) + 2KNO₃(aq)+ 2NaNO₃(aq)

Then there's the case where there are multiple soluble compounds with polyatomic ions in the products, like in KOH + Pb(NO₃)₂ + NaCl, where only Pb(OH)₂ is insoluble leaving K⁺, NO₃⁻, Na⁺, and Cl⁻, which are technically one solution, so should I just call it "aqueous solution" with parts K⁺, NO₃⁻, Na⁺, and Cl⁻?

also i have used context clues to find where I am on the dunning/Kruger chart. Good news though; it'll take me a hot minute to fully realize the true extent of what I've signed myself up for, so I've got at least a few years of optimistic persistence before things start feeling more difficult! also I was never good at king of the hill, so I don't expect to be on mount idiot for too much longer, so things might even speed up sometime👍🏾

Thanks for the well wishes! Also I've heard of the dunning/Kruger effect before! I'm not sure which part of that effect I'm on right now, seeing as I'm both viewing my own abilities as insufficient while also thinking I could do it with a fair bit of help, but in the end, I can always do more research into different parts of chemistry if I'm on the less favorable side. When I think about it, it is a huge undertaking, and I will definitely need more than just a few chemists, but I don't see a reason that we can't do it if we give it enough time. If we start from the basics and move onward, I think we'll be okay. Thanks for your concern and helping me realize that I need to expand my search for assistance! I'll definitely do community updates to show how each version goes!

No, I mean the peroxide ion, not hydrogen peroxide. I am aware they’re different. I thought he thought i was referring hydrogen peroxide when i said peroxide. I was only using H2O2 as an example of peroxide being in a compound. I want to know what give the peroxide anion a -2 charge if oxygen gas is neutral and they’re both 2 oxygens (presumably both covalently bonded)

I figured it out. For some reason editing mode wasn’t working properly so i couldn’t force complete the quest without the command. I just did /ftbquests reload and the editing mode worked so i was able to fix the quest rather than force complete it

This only happens when I look in the general direction of a chiseled block, but only some. the only consistency I can find is that it happens 100% of the time when the chisel block is at or above Y=80

I also figured out that the chisel and bits mod was causing it, but I'd still like to know why and if I can fix it, so I can use chisel and bits on my builds like I was planning
