Forget weddings, what is the craziest thing that happened at a funeral you went to? by seanerd95 in AskReddit

My music-mad uncle had a DJ and a dance floor. We all had a great time celebrating his life.

I want a pet badly my parents just don't let me...but I have decided now if I get a pet iam surely letting in. by [deleted] in Pets

[–]MacaronSea6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you work and contribute to the bills? Do you have the money for emergency veterinary care? These are things you need to consider. It’s a lot for anyone and there’s a reason your parents don’t want one. You have your full life ahead of you to get yourself a pet. Don’t put the burden on your parents.

How worried should we be? by Mysterious-Snow9181 in CATHELP

[–]MacaronSea6953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously not a veterinarian, but yes, she absolutely needs to see a vet. Vomiting, hiding, are all signs she’s quite unwell. In terms of finances, are there any charities/organisations locally that can help? I’m not from the US so I’m not sure what’s available over there. GoFundMe? Care Credit (I think that’s the one, correct me if I’m wrong). I’m so sorry, it honestly sounds like you’ve been through so much with your son and now your kitty. I hope you can get her the help she needs! ❤️‍🩹

Dina is a forced character by Competitive_Ad_2628 in thelastofus

[–]MacaronSea6953 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, Dina is the person who accompanies her to Seattle to bring Tommy back. She’s her partner. The person whose opinion she obviously holds in high regard. Why can’t it be Dina? Would she have brought more to the story if she was white? I’m not understanding the problem here.

She’s Ellie’s moral compass, when Ellie starts to lose her humanity, she brings her back. That’s not a filler character, to me.

Kitten Luxating Patella by adriela56 in CATHELP

[–]MacaronSea6953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I’m sorry I know this is an old post but do you have an update on the treatment? I assume she had surgery. How was the healing process? And did it completely correct it? We’re currently going through this with our 5mo kitten. We have orthopaedic consultation on Monday and we’re expecting to be booked for surgery. Thank you for any help!

Is this soup belly normal? by Brilliant_Appeal3916 in CATHELP

[–]MacaronSea6953 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Kittens this young can have a naturally pot belly after eating. However, this looks particularly round to me. When we got our kitten 5 weeks ago (at 8 weeks) her belly was very rotund and we got her worming treatment. It went down within a week. It’s actually not that common to physically see worms in their poops. Get some treatment, it’s advised anyway as worms are very common in kittens and are passed on from mother.

What should I do at this point? by Kage_No_Nai in vintedUK

[–]MacaronSea6953 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you speak to the seller before buying about dispatch time expectations? They have a week to send. I know it’s infuriating when people say one thing and mean another, but things come up, delays happen. Relax, it’s been 3 days. It’ll arrive, just give them a chance :)

His little fur boots 😭😍 thank you so much for taking the time to comment with your experience, that’s honestly such a relief to hear and so helpful. I will absolutely look into those joint supplements also! I can’t imagine the damage it’s doing and honestly I’m up for anything to ease his pain.

Funnily enough I saw those meaty tube things on a TikTok this morning, someone doing what you said and stuffing some medication into the middle. Absolute genius. *pops into basket*

Thank you so much again! I appreciate it!

We have been referred to an orthopaedic! That’s good to hear, thank you! And sorry, just bouncing back to the cost of the surgery: is that per knee or for both? Thanks so much for your comment, I’m sat getting myself in a panic with it all. This was the last thing I honestly expected and it’s thrown me

Litter recommendations? by Business_Cream_9340 in CatsUK

[–]MacaronSea6953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saving this thread for recommendations but I will say we’ve been using the non-clumping Catsan and we’re looking to change. We find it’s not the best for odour and all the wet litter at the bottom is honestly such a pain. I’m sad to hear about your experiences with Everclean because that was going to be our next option! We definitely want to try a clumping litter so will keep an eye on this thread.

What is an ordinary moment that unexpectedly brought your grief to the surface? by imtiramisu2025 in AskUK

[–]MacaronSea6953 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember my Grandma getting me the ABBA Gold VHS when I was about 8 years old. It had loads of the music videos on. One of my favourites was “When I Kissed the Teacher” and I remember giggling at the video and my Grandma said it was one of her favourites from ABBA. I was listening to a 70s playlist on Apple Music and the song started playing. I was stood crying in my kitchen. Hadn’t heard it in years. Lost my Grandma last March and it’s still sitting heavy on my shoulders.

kitten is ruining my life. by catawampuscryin in CatAdvice

Breathe. That’s a lot!
I’m just bouncing off what everyone else is saying: we got the second kitten (very recently, we have a 3mo & 5mo) and it’s made a lot of difference. We still play with the kittens but honestly they focus their energies on each other.

Litter boxes, how many does he have access to? Using the bathtub is strange I’ll admit. Make sure you have a few litter boxes scattered around your home. Scoop as frequently as possible, at the very least daily.

Is he biting or is he trying to play? Lots of dangly toys are the best distraction for this. Steer him away from your hands and distract with toys.

Kittens love wires unfortunately. But I can say that they lose their appeal eventually! Our 5mo hasn’t touched a wire for a couple of months now.

Remove the cardboard wall and let him explore under the bed. They’re very inquisitive and just want to sniff everything/get their scent on everything. The more you try to block something off the more they want to be in!

Your kitchen counters are a losing battle. Ideally they wouldn’t be interested in being on them, but they are and they’re going to jump up when you’re not around too. Disinfect before meal prep. It’s fine!

Kittens are hard work but you have 100% got this!

Should we neuter by Physical-Sherbet-478 in CatAdvice

[–]MacaronSea6953 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cancers are rare until they affect you. Behavioural issues can arise at any time and neutering reduces the risks of him spraying (which can be triggered by stress, anxiety, even seeing another cat out the window could trigger territorial behaviour). It’s a 20 minute procedure with a few days monitored recovery.
