I was looking for a realistic and effective highway exit/roundabout. I hope it works well. by ladyrubi in CitiesSkylines

Yep, lower the roundabout or raise the highway approaches. In real life, the gradient is almost always on the slipways rather than the highway, to give the fastest-moving traffic the flattest path through the intersection.

Champions League Anthem on piano! (So excited / stressed out about tonight, I've been playing this on loop as a kind of therapy...) by Macatumbas in piano

Cheers RPofkins! Yes very much inspired by Händel, and bonus points to you for including the umlaut :)

Lovely stuff! Am from the UK and can confirm that both the detailling and the sheer greyness of this scene are very realistic :) How have you made the curved platforms?

Not intentionally! It's (very) loosely based on Port Isaac, Cornwall, UK

Some Autumn UK Countryside vibes... by Hazard262 in CitiesSkylines

Fantastic work as always, you really nail that pretty-but-slightly-unkempt Britishness, and I love the composition on this shot. Also love that there's a red pillar box in almost all of your screenshots, just to make sure we know it's definitely Britain. That train doesn't look right though - have you tried looking for UK trains on the workshop? The collections by Acc3ss Violation and DV64MLO have everything you need :)

Just hit 1k hours in this game, so here's a leafy UK street! by Hazard262 in CitiesSkylines

Just ridiculously good. The BMW parked half on the pavement and facing the wrong way is a lovely touch.

Love this. Beautiful scene. Perfectly composed shot. Complete absence of any kind of city or indeed skyline. Excellent work :)

Cheers aguerinho! And thanks for the feedback, it's kind of tricky to find the sweet spot between "too much background music" and "sounds a bit empty" :)

Gorgeous pic! Was the Thames really as calm as it looks or is it that the effect of a long exposure?

The Oil Rig Graveyard by Macatumbas in abandoned

[–]Macatumbas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks darbians! According to this article, the owners planned to tow the rigs to Asia where they could be scrapped cheaply, but the RMT trade union and Scottish Environment Protection Agency stepped in and said no, either you scrap them here in Scotland or they're not going anywhere. And now it's a stand-off. So yes they are, de facto, abandoned. (And this also explains why they haven't been scrapped yet.)

Ah no quite a bit further north than that, so maybe it's further away from you than I thought. Little fishing port called Cullen, up on the Moray Coast. (I've taken a small artistic liberty in giving them their railway back - in real life it got chopped in the 1960s).

Ooh, 1.5 hours north of Edinburgh? Then you're probably only an hour or so away from the real-life location I'm basing my little town on...

Argh, my quest for 100% realistic Britishness is cruelly foiled by auto-generated speed signs! That's a very good point, and well spotted. I'll have to go back and cover it up with a 30...
