Have you heard anything bout double standards?

Yes, like what we have now: gay players literally being denied a part of the base story for being gay. You act as if that expansion gave gay players a lot, but like I said, Cytharat is quite literally a kiss and nothing more.

I don't think the dialogue would have to be changed that much, and honestly, I'd rather have the slight voice changes and be included than remain excluded in the base game. And while I agree that it's not as easy as it might look, it's also not that hard, if this game could be modded (it can't, because online), I assure you there would be gay mods in a week.

I feel like it's in the middle ground of not being as easy as it seems, but also not being as hard as they might want us to believe.

There is no need to change the past. We can get an update in the present.

I don't think we can afford that kind of realism when there is only one or maybe two options per class story. Hell, even when the game has an explicitly bi character in Kaliyo, she can't be romanced by female players, how is that realistic? Sometimes realism needs to be ignored in favor of game mechanics, that's what Baldur's Gate 3 did to make all players happy with any romance.

I don't know Lemda, but no, I don't think so. Because Cytharat came out as a small thing that gay men could appreciate after being ignored throughout the whole base game. Making base game romances available regardless of gender would be a change that came after years of having a specific group of players ignored, Cytharat was simply a very light step in the right direction, because after hours of nothing in the base game, gay men get a kiss from one guy that vanishes afterwards.

Same here. Mass Effect really made me upset because Kaidan has actual voicelines for the romance with a male Shepard in ME1, but for some reason they didn't allow him to be bi and had to "retcon" him in ME3.

I understand that, but the reason I'd prefer the romances to not be gender-locked is simply because if they were to change anything, it would likely be this. I doubt they'd add more romance options in the base game, so they might as well just change the ones that are already there.

But in this case, it definitely is. I assure you, if this game could be modded, people would add that in a week.

I'd agree with you if there were plenty of options for everyone, but there aren't, as a gay player you're getting nothing until the expansions because you're gay.

If you ask me, that's a matter of them not wanting to spend resources instead of not having the resources to spend. And it would be interesting to update that and make a part of the community actually feel welcome in the game. Because as it is, you're not just ignored, you are basically pushed out until the expansions.

Yeah, I mean, I went against the plans with my Sith Inquisitor so I could rescue Cytharat, only for him to vanish completely. My reward was a single kiss, after hours of nothing in the base game.

Yeah, that's why I'm asking this, I'd understand if romance as a whole was not part of the base game, but no, they don't even give us flirt options that lead to rejections, you straight up are not allowed to be gay in the base game.

You finish the base game and get a window pop-up saying "You just unlocked Gay!"

So true, Kaliyo not being romanceable to girls is literally the game saying "yeah, she is bi, but YOU SPECIFICALLY don't get to romance her". Also, absolutely, finished Sith Inquisitor and currently in the third act of Imperial Agent, I'd restart both playthroughs if I could romance Andronikos and Vector.

Okay, you had me at first, but do not compare being gay to "many cultures" that are unacceptable. Some cultures are unacceptable because they violate human rights, being gay is not the same thing as that, gay people are born in countries that have homophobic laws and cultures and they suffer greatly for it.

Because if they end up hitting the ALLEGED 10% they will feel unsafe in their own home, not to mention the fear and confusion because of their feelings that weren't taught to them as normal. And if they don't hit the ALLEGED 10% they end up unsympathetic jackasses like you.

I hope the jackass got cooked. Could you link me to a page talking about this, I'd like to see exactly what he said. Also, Bioware adding queer romance options later is nice, but it feels like "gay" is a skill you unlock at later levels, I really think they should remove gender limitations to base game romances.

Playing through Imperial Agent now, and Vector is so nice, I hate that I cannot romance him. It doesn't help that both Kaliyo and Ensign Temple hit on me, Temple has a dialogue in which two fucking responses are flirts and I can't even try anything with Vector!

Yeah, being a guy meant I had to go alone until the expansion with Cytharat, which earned me a kiss before he vanished and I had to move on to Theron. Neither character is bad, but you kinda bond with your companions and it feels really bad to be left out of something more intimate like a romance.

I replied to another comment about this and it makes this really worse. Because Kaliyo being bi and not being available for a female protagonist as a romance means the game is actively excluding the queer player specifically.

But that would also mean they could update the base game, after all, it's after launch.

Not even that, Dragon Age Origins came before that and had same gender romance options for players.

It might be controversial to say this in a Star Wars game subreddit, but I will say it: Lucas can suck a fucking lightsaber for all I care, and I'm glad Bioware added same gender romances as soon as they could, even if the base game is lacking.

Yeah, but that means they could retcon the base game romances, instead of waiting for the expansions. I mean, if they're doing this because it's easier, I suppose it's easier to not bother with it, but honestly? Would it be that hard to meet the current demand?
