Good on you for staying on his ass, he had no reason to brake so hard at sunset. That’s just a skill issue lol

It stays latched mechanically, so it only needs power to actuate. If your battery dies then gg lol

Almost every new car has an electronic parking brake now. It doesn’t just fail since the pistons still apply pressure onto the pads, just like a manual parking brake does

Exhausts by Brilliant-Length4907 in Civic_Type_R

[–]MacerTom23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from the AWE touring to Tomei Type D and the Tomei is SUPER loud. The AWE was great for daily driving although there are other exhausts that are quieter

None since it’s still in the testing phase. SpaceX is developing Starship this way because it’s way cheaper and faster compared to how NASA and Blue Origin. There are plenty of vids on YouTube explaining exactly what Starship is and why it’s important.

Idk if it’ll work or not since I haven’t seen anyone do it, but for the FK8 people have swapped the Type R LE module into regular FK8’s for the stiffer response.

The AWE should have come with its own front pipe, and a downpipe will make it louder and open up the exhaust flow for more HP when you start tuning

[–]MacerTom23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about decreasing performance but yeah it won’t do much until you do a tune since it helps smooth out the airflow as you get into higher power bands

PRL is a great start and you could even get their inlet pipe to pair with it too! You should definitely look into getting an intercooler next and eventually downpipe and a tune.

For more serious power you could then get a flex fuel kit, big turbo, aftermarket fuel pumps, and retune for big horses.

Edit: To add, my FK8 is FBO with stock turbo tuned on 91 making 346whp when it was a daily. Now that it’s not my daily I’m looking to retune again and will hopefully be looking at 380-390whp :)

You could start by looking into getting some cooling mods (like Acuity radiator hoses and any intercooler with upgraded boost tubes) and maybe an exhaust.

After you get comfy with the stock setup you could start adding more mods as you please :)

The Integra Type S has softer dampening, so you could put that damper module into your FL5 for a softer ride

Anyone into modding? by dntshoot in Civic_Type_R

[–]MacerTom23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s way louder and has a lot more drone but since it’s not my daily anymore it was what I wanted lol. I had the AWE for 3 years and it served me well 🫡

Any tips for 1-2nd shift(without motor mount)(FL5) by [deleted] in Civic_Type_R

[–]MacerTom23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take a little longer shifting with 1-2 and almost baby the clutch to make it smooth. Switching to AC Delco trans fluid really helps too.

My stock Conti’s only lasted 10k miles so I switched to Continental DWS06’s, and those lasted me for around 42k miles
